4PSP exclusive needed a little more polish and variety...stillJul 14, 2007
By P. Webb "Trajedi"
Here is what I liked about 300 March to Glory for the PSP
PROS:
Good voice acting, nice bonus interviews with Frank Miller and several trailers for 300 the film that look cool on the PSP screen as well as other unlockable comic art etc...
Neutrals:
The gameplay is basically a little bit hack n' slash, a little bit strategy and little bit of RPG (very little)upgrading is cool and different methods of killing are satisfying to learn and execute but the game needed more variety in between the fighting besides God of War style minigames. Basically you will be holding L trigger to block hits and getting in specific style hits on bosses etc when they are vulnerable, not bad but not groundbreaking gameplay either.
Cons:
On certain levels the ground rolls by like one of those old car racing games where the road moved under the vehicles.
Decent enough, but not great if you like Frank Miller and the film adaptation I say give it a shot, but you might want to wait till the price drops.

4Simple and niceJan 30, 2008

I bought this game because I liked the movie. I was worried that the game might be complex and got so many features to master, however this one as so simple to learn, especially that the combos are easy to remember and execute.

You can finish this game and play it over and over, which will allow you to buy all the upgrades you need. It is fun to have, but don't expect too much if you're a hardcore gamer.

4Was Worth ItNov 14, 2008

When I first put this game in I wasn't overly impressed. After playing God of War, this game felt like a step back. While very little can match God of War, this game did end up being lots of fun to play. The game mostly takes place on the travels to the battle as portrayed in the movie. You could make another movie just on all the action the 300 see along the way. The actual battle is portrayed as well as the battle at Plateau which you catch a glimpse of at the end of the movie. This is basically a hack and slash game with little in the way of RPG. It is fun to level up and gain new skills and weapons. There is lots of gore and a fair amount of different enemies coming your way. The hard part is figuring out what can beat the end bosses. Some of them were quite hard and took me many deaths to finally beat them. The graphics are good, though not great. The cuts scenes with Miller's art is nice, as is the voice acting. The camera is sometimes a little wonky, but it is not bad. I enjoyed this game and I might even play it through again, since it lets you keep all your level ups.

2A nice try at imitating the movie but just a little too rushedMay 11, 2007

Naturally right after the blockbuster hit 300 came out there was a video game destined. 300: March to Glory came out almost as soon as the movie did so it was already set to be an iffy game for the simple fact it didn't seem like much time was dedicated to it. 300 is your basic hack and slash game to glory where you control King Leonidas as he fights with sword, spear, and shield against a Persian army of millions.

Problems erupt almost immediately in the game. The first being that instead of keeping with the theme of the movie you DO NOT fight with 300 Spartans and rather you fight with two or three and in some levels you can even see the Spartan army just standing there lollygagging. The best example though is when you are alone fighting two bosses and two Persian immortals with only spear and shield. The next problem is that if I plan on playing a simple hack and slash game I don't want to have to hit 7 different buttons to stab someone. In fact half the time in the game if you get too close to an enemy you catch on fire from their burning swords. This leads to be a very annoying situation and leaves you wondering how the Persians lit their metal weapons on fire anyways. Besides the constant array of button mashing configurations and the constant stopping, dropping, and rolling, there is little thinking involved and as long as you upgrade your moves and equipment you should be fine.

All in all three hundred was a valiant effort to recreate a movie that had a video game feel and honestly was just as much as a video game as this one. The game starts out fun at first but after some playing time it gets extremely repeptive and tiring. This game suits a select few gamers so if you are truly interested in it I would reccomend you first borrow it before you commit yourself to spending the thirty dollars.

4300-March to GloryMay 12, 2007

I liked the game alot. You were able to explore more that was not shown in the motion picture. Loved the phalanx feature. Only downer was that you aren't able to jump, other than that I thought the game was great. Graphics are decent considering it's on the PSP, game play is awesome, especially the spear throwing aspect and the upgradeable moves and weapons.
