5Most Awesome Game EVERDec 08, 2001
By Robyn Leigh, 15-year-old gamer
My friend and i happened to be bored one afternoon, so we headed for blockbuster in search for a new N64 game to play. We saw mystical ninja and decided to give it a try, even though we had never heard of it. As soon as we got home, we gave it a try. It turned out to be the best game we had ever played! the graphics are excellent for N64, and the story line is very well thought out. The only problem with it is no internal memory. My friend and i have rented it several times, NEVER getting bored of defeating the same villans again(since we would have to start over). I'll be buying the game finnaly (it's pretty hard to find). I don't really know what people are talking about, it being a "culture shock". so what if it's set in a different enviroment than what us americans "expect". i didn't find anything wrong with it begining set in japan. i though it was quite nice to find it set somewhere different than what we usually expect. i've also heard that mystical ninja was BEFORE zelda, so Zelda was actually the one biting off of mystical ninja. but i'm not sure if that information is quite accurate.

mystical ninja has AWESOME music. i don't care what other people say. it's MUCH better music than what is featured on other games. i HIGHLY recommend mystical ninja over any other N64 adventure game. ;)

5a nonlinear game that plays like a good anime!Aug 17, 2003

This game had me captivated for so long. I would have to play it in one sitting in the old days because I didn't have a memory card, and I didn't mind. This is the kind of game that takes 60 hours from your life, but it's not really an RPG. It's more like an action-ish-RPG. The character designs are perfect, the action is downright addictive, and, well, even the level design is great. It makes you feel like you're really in Japan! (you can later call a dragon to transport you anywhere, but it's more fun to trek on foot) A really great game, one of the best on the N64.

5This game was awesome!Sep 08, 2001

This game is, without a doubt, one of the most overlooked games of all time. Even though i never actually bougt the game, i did rent it twice. Mystical Ninja actually came out a while befor Zelda64 did, and zelda64 actually stole some elements of MN.

5Mystical Ninja is Konami's Greatest Success!Jul 29, 2001

I first bought this game two years ago. I was a bit iffy on getting it because it was a foreign game from Japan that included elements that were not common in the United States. The first time i played I was wowed by the graphics and the play control. The story also, was very unusual, unlike anything i had ever seen before in a game. Strange alien invaders had come to Japan to turn it into a stage for their latest theater production, and Goemon was supposed to stop them. Sound weird? That's because it is. Goemon has his trusty sidekick Ebisumaru and later meets up w/ his ninja friend Jen and find a crazy robot named Izayaki. The vast worlds and many areas of the game took me over a year to complete. The one bad thing about this game is that it lacks an internal memory, so you have to use a controller pack to save your progress. This game is one of the most underspoken;it never got the acclaim that it should have received. If you ever decide to buy this game, youre doing yourself a favor, and maybe one day, Goemon will be discovered by gamers around the world, but until then, it will remain in the shadows of giants like Mario and Zelda. Mystical Ninja is in my opinion Konami's Greatest Success!!!
