 A cute, charming RPG with appeal for teenage girls.Jan 31, 2001

This lighthearted, charming RPG has lots of appeal for preteen and teenage girls because the main character is a sixteen-year-old girl named Cornet. The heroine of this story, Cornet dreams of meeting and falling in love with a handsome prince. One day in the woods, she is rescued from an evil witch's cronies by a young man who turns out to be Ferdinand, prince of the kingdom she lives in and heir to the throne. Ferdinand will soon turn eighteen, and is looking for a bride. He and Cornet soon begin to fall in love, but Ferdinand is then kidnapped by the evil witch. The rest of the game follows Cornet's quest to find and save Ferdinand. Although the game was rather short (it only took me ten hours to complete) it was just so fun that I didn't mind. The songs were really cute. I hope Atlus decides to bring the other two games in this series to America. I'd certainly buy them the day they came out. Rhapsody's no Final Fantasy, but it's definitley an enjoyable game that I'd highly reccomend.

One word: KAWAI! (Cute!)Jul 04, 2000
I began playing this game yesterday morning and just beat it a few minutes ago. Its one of the cutest games I've ever seen and a must have for anime fans. (Especially shoujo!) The character designers are creative, the backgrounds are rich and detailed and the music is wonderfully done. (Bravo Atlus!) If I had to pick my favorite part though it would be the option to hear the songs in Japanese or in English. (Atlus even makes references to the original Japanese throughout the game.) It may not be the widley acclaimed crowd pleaser Final Fantasy VIII is, but it certainly deserves a chance. I for one beat FFVIII a couple of months ago and haven't touched it since but I only beat Rhapsody a few minutes ago and have already started over from the beginning! This is one game that's staying in my collection (excepting a few trips over to friends houses so they can see how cute it is too)

 Rhapsody: setting the stage for a new kind of RPGJul 01, 2000
Most roleplaying games are either Sword and sorcery ala AD&D, Final Fantasy style games or Buxom women bursting out of their clothing as they brutalize their monsterous opponents. Rhapsody gives us something new. An RPG more based in comedy and song. Now comedy RPG's aren't new (Thousand Arms), and neither are Song filled RPGS (Lunar: SSSC). Rhapsody however combines the best of both worlds and creates a fun little game that kept me riveted with laughter andwell as suprised at myself that i was enjoying a storyline obviously geared for teenage girls (But there some subtle sexual comments.) The battle system is easy to learn and none of the battles ever present a real challenge, but that's common and almost a trademark of Atlus games. Anyone should be able to learn the system in under 15 minutes. So overall, Rhapsody is a must buy for those of you looking for a unique role playing game that will make you laugh and probably scare your parents that you have J-Pop coming from the Tv speakers. If you're looking for an RPG with blood, gore, scary monster, and items like "Superdeathimoblizer Sword," then try one of the other role playing games easily lost in the shadows.

I think the game has cute characters and a good story line, but it was super easy to beat. It was almost too easy. The songs are okay, but they could have done better. I really only like this game because of the story line. It has nice anime-style art though.

When I first heard of it, I was both eager to play it and a bit skeptical - a game targeted at girls is wonderful, but so amazingly stereotyped? Can it be good? Yes, it really can.
The game is played strategy-style [think FF: Tactics, only disgustingly cute] with the most adorible characters imaginable. You are [or rather, follow] Cornet, a girl with the ability to talk to [and animate] puppets. While she can befriend and talk to them, none are really as "alive" as Kururu - who is very animated and is Cornet's best friend. No one knows how or why Kururu is so very animated, but it's a blessing for Cornet, who lives alone with her grandfather.
The villians are far too funny to be fearsome, and the monsters are just too cute. The attacks, however, are the best: the special attacks are breakfast foods - Pancake attack!
The game is rather short [15-30 hours, depending on how much you level/strategize], but is a wonderful introduction to gaming in general, and strategy games in particular for girls. The songs, while sappy at times, can be downright hilarious, and a few can be touching, especially once you've finished the storyline. All in all a cute, sweet, lovable game that can be enjoyed best by women or guys who know how to enjoy something cute and funny. At the very least, it's a great collection piece, because how many actual MUSICAL video games have you seen?
