This Is A Hard But Rewarding Game.Jul 30, 2007

When I first got this game I was very excited. The game looked very promising with the Car of Tommorrow and the addition of the Toyota. When I popped it in my system though the experience was totally different then I expected. This is a very difficult game to play. You oversteer just a little bit and your going to wreck. You hit too many cars you get black flagged. I was getting very frusturated and was about to return it back the day I bought it. I'm happy I decided not to though. After about 3 days of playing it I started to get the hang of the game. The driving system makes you learn how to become a good player and once you start finishing in the top 10 it feels like you acomplished something. This is a racing simulator and shouldn't be confused with the other arcade Nascar games. The graphics in my opinion look very decent between the shadows and how the sun reflects off the car. It's all solid. As for the sound it's about on par with all the older Nascar titles so don't be expecting too much from this department. There is no multiplayer mode unless you go online which kind of sucks. The bright side though is there is a solid list of racers in the game. In the truck series there's about 10 real life drivers such as Johhny Benson and in the Busch/National Series there's about 30 guys and in the Nextel series they have about 45 real life drivers which is more than there previous titles. Some notable drivers are missing though such as Carl Edwards due to some licenseing agreements. Overall this is a good game but it isn't meant for someone who wants to pop in the game and start winning races. It takes time and patients but it pays off in the end. Once I finally got the hang of the game I started having a blast. If I reviewed this game the day it came out it probably would have been a 1 or 2 star game like most of the people are saying but now I believe it deserves a solid 4 stars for achieving a sense of realism such as in the damage department, flags, and the handling of the car itself. If you want a very realistic game of racing I suggest you pick this up otherwise if you want a more arcade racing title stick to the older Nascar titles such as last years Nascar 07.

Not too bad.Aug 01, 2007
By John G. Evans I've very critical about EAs attempt at Nascar games, and this one is the best effort so far. It definitely drives as a simulator so I can understand all of the negative reviews if you are attempting to play this with handheld controller. I bought the force feedback wheel and it works great.
The best thing about this game is that there are no dumb gimicks like "total team control" or anything silly like that. Jut decent racing with decent graphics. Not bad.

For Hardcore Fans A+....... For Normal Gamers F-Jul 26, 2007
By Tonya Hart Unless you are a die-hard NASCAR fan that wants a very complicated simulation game, this is not for you. The handling is awful. You have to go into deep detail into the car setup for each track to even have a chance to make it around a single lap, much less win.
If you understand the complete mechanics of NASCAR cars, and know what inputs to apply, this game would be fun. EA Sports should have set the easy and normal game play levels as they have in previous games and set this game's Hard level to what its current Easy level is. That would have taken care of both the hardcore gamers and the normal gamers.
Seeing how there is no multiplayer and steering is non-existant, I strongly recommend you rent this game before you buy it. I love the whole NASCAR game series and have played them all, but I must admit I am very disappointed with the 08 version. Unless you are an expert (which the majority of people that play these games aren't) you'll become too frustrated to continue playing after about 10 minutes.

EA:Go back to your roots!!!Jul 27, 2007

I give this 2 stars, because I love Nascar, but this game is not good. First of all, the Chase mode. You have to spend all your time doing these mundane task before becoming a car owner. It is long and tedious. Then when you get all these cars, the chase isnt worth it. The cars are impossible to drive, so you become reckless, and then you get black flagged, meaning you finish 43rd. THIS IS NOT FUN. You are driving a car with no sponsor, I feel like a loser like Robbie Gordon. The fun of past games is you were a driver and you earned moving up, by going through the ranks of smaller race circuits. Then based on your ability, you got any number of sponsors and were hired by an owner. That was fun. You also had the feud/friendship with the other drivers. People to avoid on the track and and people to work with. Where did all this go? What they have given us now is either extremely hard on Chase mode. Or extremely easy on Season Mode. I ditched the Chase mode, because I was afraid I might harm myself, so I started a season with Tony Stewart. I lap every car in the field, every race. What fun is that? EA needs to go back to the drawing board and back to its roots.

Absolutely Terrible.Oct 23, 2007
By Thomas M. Wright The Good: The interface and graphics are very pretty. There seems to be a good amount of control over your car's setup (wedge, spoiler, tires, etc.) which is important for us nascar fans. Graphics are very pretty.
The Bad: There are only two controls for setting up your controller/wheel.
The Ugly: The game is almost completely unplayable. I've tried with my controller and my racing wheel to little avail. With only two settings to adjust (Linearity and Sensitivity), any methods of controlling the car are futile. A slight turn will run you right into the retaining wall or another vehicle. To maintain yourself behind another car in order to draft air off them is excruciatingly difficult. You'll find that the slightest movement to counter steer will throw your vehicle out of control.
Conclusion: Unless you're into sadomasochism or feel the need to challenge your inner Buddha with a hair pulling experience, I would avoid this game... and most EA titles for that matter. EA is becoming quite synonymous for poor quality games. I would recommend Dirt or Forza for some decent racing action on the 360.
