Online options make this version worthwhileSep 27, 2007
By bixodoido Okay, first things first. The gameplay in Tiger Woods PGA Tour doesn't change all that much from year to year, and the 2008 edition is no exception. Sure, there are some new features and more golfers to choose from, but the improvements in gameplay itself might not be worth upgrading if you've already got Tiger 2007. Where this game does come through, however, is in the online options. The ability to play a match online is great, and Gamernet, which allows you to post challenges for other people to attempt and beat, is a lot of fun.
THE GOOD:
-If you're a fan of the franchise you'll enjoy the gameplay in Tiger 2008 -The inclusion of more LPGA golfers is a nice development for female players -Gameface, when/if it works (the site seems to be unstable and many people haven't been able to make it work), allows you to use a picture of yourself to customize your golfer's face! -online options are great, and the Gamernet challenges should appeal to people seeking producer points for posting difficult challenges, and those who want to earn player points by beating or "busting" those challenges.
THE BAD:
-New features are, for the most part, good, but Tiger Woods '08 is still basically the same game. Some more innovation would be nice. -Gameface doesn't work very well for a lot of people, and I've found Gamernet to be pretty buggy as well. You can only have 3 clips up at a time, and taking down your old challenges so you can post new ones can be frustrating. EA seems to offer little to no support for anything related to the online portion of the game. -The game is STILL buggy. EA released an update that fixed a bug preventing the Tiger Challenge from being completed, but the game still freezes up at times and some of the animations don't work. I've played entire rounds where my opponent didn't have a ball--he was just swinging at the ground and launching nothing into the air.
Overall, Tiger Woods 2008 is probably worth picking up if you don't own any of the recent titles. If you're thinking of upgrading from '07, however, you might want to rent this one first and see if the new stuff is really worth the price of a new game. Personally, if it weren't for the online aspect of the game I'd recommend buying '07 and saving the money, but if you like to play online this one might be worthwhile.

Wow, Simply Amazing!Aug 28, 2007

No one can give this game justice by saying how beautiful it is. The graphics are simply the best I've ever seen in a sports game on the 360 or PS3. It's so real you can smell the fresh cut grass. Not only is this game amazing graphically, the gameplay is the best I've ever experienced in a Tiger Woods game. The courses are great, the many golfers to choose from is enourmous. If you're into the LPGA Tour, they have the best women golfers like Anika Sorenstam on here as well. I finally think that EA Sports is starting to understand how to make great games again. This is by far my favorite sports game on the next gen consoles. Even if you don't like golf, you will have a blast. My friend hates golf but loves this game. That's how great it is. Any sports geek should buy this without any hesitation. You will truly enjoy this Tiger experience.

Game has bugs!!!! Warning!!!Sep 06, 2007

You will never be able to finish the Tiger Chalange because two of the events have bugs in them that will cause the loading screen to freeze up. This is such a huge mistake and one that I hope can be corrected at some point or they will really have to think about a refund or recall of some sort. Other then that issue its your same basic Tiger game only slightly better looking. Same feel, same events, same people. EA is really damn lazy. If you liked it before, you'll like it again... but nothing will suprize you. Please, someone else make a rival golf game!!!

Great game. Turned me on to golf.Nov 24, 2009
By Jeremy Addicting game that's easy to pick up and play without even knowing the slightest thing about golf. I actually feel comfortable talking about the sport with people who are fans after playing this game. I have never been interested in golf but I do know a good video game when I play one. The EA Sports Tiger Woods collection on the XBOX 360 that have been released over the years are the definitive golf video games.

Tiger Woods 08 for XBOX 360Jul 03, 2008

Tiger Woods, hmmmm where do I start. I have owned and probably still own all the Tiger woods games ever produced, atleast for every year they were made for xbox, ps2, and xbox 360...
The game itself is amazing. Heck you can even put your own face into the game. The career modes are fantastic, the graphics are excellent, and there are an abundant amount of golf courses that I will never even be able to see in my lifetime.
The problem with the game is the Putting! A few Tiger woods ago, you could putt, it was still difficult to putt (had to line of the approximate inches, and feet), now you have to be a better putter while playing the game then you would need to be in real life while putting on the PGA Tour.
I bought Tiger Woods 08 and have played it once, because the putting is so bad it makes me not want to play the game. I am disappointed that I spent 60 dollars on the game.
If you can get past the putting aspect, the rest of the game is amazing.
If you absolutely must have the game buy it pre-owned!
