5Completely new gameplayOct 14, 2008
By D. Hudnall
This game is completely different from anything you will play. The whole idea of terrain deformation (TD), creates a whole new concept of gameplay. Being able to actually morph your terrain to your advantage is something unheard of in other games.

The graphics in the game are also very good and various types of terrain/weather are experienced in the game (snowing, underground, expansive fields, dangerious environments etc).

I felt that the game incorporated lots of different forms of gameplay from all-out fighting, to driving vehicles, and even puzzle-solving to get through obstacles.

The weapons on the are also pretty neat. Although other games might have similar weapons, many of the weapons on Fracture are one-of-a-kind that can wreak total havoc. The grenades are superior to any other kind of grenade that I have seen (including a type that creates an all-powerful vortex that sucks anything and everything into it).

Another aspect that many people are interested in as well is the online gameplay. Due to all of the details I just described, the online gameplay is also very good. Working as a team by morphing terrain for your buddies to their advantage, very expansive levels, and completely unpredictable gameplay makes for an awesome online experience.

One of the best qualities I think of this game is that it contains more action than I have ever seen in various scenes throughout the game. At some points there is so much gunfire, explosions, terrain morphing, giant dreadnoughts, missiles and underground torpedos all going on at the same time it truly feels like an all-out war. I truly think that anyone that gets this game will definitely enjoy it because it isn't like all the same ole stupid first-person shooters that everybody creates today. Many people never truly give a good review of a game and simply just say, "game is awful"......or "i couldn't figure out the controls so it sucked".......and those are people that don't need to be giving reviews in the first place since they don't help anybody. I don't really have any negative comments for this game other than the fact, and this is rare to hear, but some parts have almost too much action in which it seems almost impossible to get through it. Otherwise, I think it is a solid game and a game that most will definitely appreciate.

3MehDec 20, 2009

This game isn't bad, but it's not all that good either. Especially stacked up against other Third Person Shooters. The main problem is the way they throw enemies at you. A lot of TPS suffer from this problem. Where the developers deem it a good idea to just flood you with a ton of enemies. Enemies which aren't even that smart. Use the entrencher to raise some cover, then just peer out and take out a few. Go back down behind cover to recharge shields, then rinse and repeat. Using teh entrencher to bring back up your cover if the enemies manage to throw a granade to lower it.

It's tedious more than it is fun. Now this wouldn't be a problem if you could switch it up properly. However, the enemies are accurate. Even if they sit in the same spots while you sit there doing nothing behind some ground cover. [literally] So you can't charge in. There are few instances where you're allowed to do this because of all the enemies that they toss in at you.

Here's the campaign in a nutshell;

Fight enemies in large room
Go down narrow passage
Come out into a large room where you fight more enemies
Solve Puzzle or Kill Boss

Repeat. That's pretty much it with the exception of near the end where you actually get some close quarter action, which is too little too late.

Controls work fine. You fire often gets blocked by trees, rocks, whatever you're standing behind though. Which is frustrating.

The final boss was very, VERY disappointing. He was, without spoiling anything, simply a recolor of a previous enemy type you fought multiple times before. Story is pretty meh. The main character isn't interesting. The online is pretty much dead, with good reason. I managed to get into a match earlier this year and it was not fun.

This is a short lived experience and not that great of one. It's an average game through and through. Worth getting only if the price is right.

At first i didnt like the game, probably because it was too easy. So i played it on hard and then i found myself hooked on it. The game is well worth the asking price. it is a long game too, which is great. if you want to play something unique and challenging this game is for you!

3Decent shooter game with different twistMay 15, 2010

Fracture was a pretty good game. The ability to manipulate the terrain was a cool new concept, but by the end of the game the novelty wore off. No regrets to buying it, but certainly not a best-seller!

2Big letdownJul 18, 2010

Lucas Arts is great when it comes to Star Wars games but outside of that they just don't deliver. Fracture has a unique premise with the ability to use terrain altering weapons. However these get really repetative and downright boring very quickly. And for some reason on the easiest setting they throw enemies at you left and right so fast that it makes it extremely difficult to complete your objectives. Most of the terrain weapons consist of either raising or lowering the ground in someway. If you're looking for some great FPS action then pick up a copy of Call of Duty (doesn't matter which one) and skip this game altogether.
