Keep your little monkey happy...Feb 24, 2009
By William L. Glenn I'm a big fan of "puzzle" games, and unfortunately am frequently
disappointed, but this one was a pleasant surprise. You start off with
just a few of the eleven games available, and have to unlock the rest,
all the while earning enough to keep a cute monkey happy with food, toys
and creature comforts. The monkey is surprisingly engaging, and it is
amusing to watch him interact with what you have provided. The games are
simple, but a few of them are quite addictive. I especially enjoy the
word game, the bowling and the solitaire. There is also a fruit matching
game which gets quite frenetic, a somewhat lame version of Mahjong, a smooth playing version of Sudoku, a charming shell game, and four others
that feature stronger arcade elements (not my cup of tea, so I don't play
them as much). Overall, a nice varied title that is a good one to keep
handy for frequent short sessions of casual play.

One of the best puzzle games on the DS for fun and varied gameplay and dollar value!May 07, 2009
By AlexJouJou This is a great game. It is exactly what it says it is--a puzzle compilation with variety. There are many varieties here: solitaire, word games, popper types, bowling, cascade (jewel match type), and another oddball game of jumping which is quite cute!
I mostly play RPG on the DS these days--preferring the story and gameplay that lets me sink myself in for many fun and quest filled hours. I usually play puzzle type games (Touchmaster, 7 Wonders, Jewel Quest) before bed to wind down. I occasionally play them on my lunch break at work as well.
My criterion for puzzle games is pretty simple: Fun, capable of being played in small increments, variety, and not too complicated to figure out (don't have to read the manual!). This one gets a solid 5 on a 1-5 scale. The games are varied and fun and I don't have any duds I hate. No complicated gameplay here and there is no problem with save points and time.
I have to admit I didn't pick this one up for months-- I hadn't read the amazon reviews because I just didn't pick this one as a puzzle game. Looked like some sort of action game or something like those PetZ games to me and didn't look appealing. I think a lot of people miss this one because of its kind of bland cover art and strange title. Of course the title makes sense when you play due to the monkey thing (someone else has already explained this in their review).
This is kind of expensive for a puzzle game--it is more the cost of an action or RPG game. However since this game has a lot of variety and I find I like to replay the games and don't really get bored I feel it is worth it. I have a lot of puzzle games and I don't take too much time to review most of them--that I have for this one demonstrates I think it is worth the cost. I easily consider this one as good as the Jewel Quest and Touchmaster (1st one). Highly recommended!

Great DS Game for EveryoneJul 13, 2009

I just bought this game and I have to agree with the previous reviewers. This game has a lot of fun games, and as you play it and care for your pet monkey you unlock more games. My grandaughter picked it up and played for hours, and showed me all the "in's and out's". She is 9 and really enjoyed buying stuff and improving the islands... which is a good thing because she unlocked other games for us to play! all the games are fun! I am not a super game player, but this is easy to play and learn. I highly recommend as a family game!

Good game for 9 year old!Apr 13, 2010
By Cheeseliz I often have a hard time finding games for my 9 yr old daughter. They are either too simple and repetitive or too hard. She's not a fan of raise a pet, and dress him up sort of games, nor blast them up adventurous games, but likes games with a goal to reach by finishing puzzles. This one is perfect. Good games too - word links, suduko, etc - sort of educational puzzle type games. You master a certain level of games and get to unlock other games and win money to buy things for your monkey & island. She now has two islands to keep running, and has become a master of the word bubble game. Even her friends want to play with it when they come over. It's not really an adult game (although I enjoy many of them), but great for her! This is one games that's been worth it!

Tropix is so much fun...and I'm over sixty!Oct 03, 2010
By Gramby loves the DS! I came across this game when browsing through all the Nintendo DS games. It sounded like it would be fun, so I took a chance and ordered it. I could NOT put it down! There are several games to play which are also fun, but the Jungle Jump with the adorable monkey took first place while stealing my heart! It's easy, yet takes a little while to buy all the islands. I didn't notice at first, that the monkey plays with the things you buy it and also you can touch the plants and trees you buy on each island and they do something. Very cute! By the way, the order was received on the exact day that Amazon said it would be delivered, as well as other purchases that I've ordered since then. I am very pleased with Amazon in all ways.
I am a grandma...overy sixty... and I guess a kid at heart, as I love playing the Nintendo games. I have had the DS Lite for a few years, but have started having a little trouble seeing the screen so decided to purchase the larger one and am not sorry I did. On a more positive note reguarding the DS Lite...I can read the 100 Classic Books without a bit of trouble, and that pleasantly surprised me. I keep both the Lite and the new one with the larger screen close by at all times! I believe it's called the DS XL.
Well..it's time to settle down and do some Jungle Jumping. I love Tropix!!!!!! Hope you will too!
