Overall very goodApr 06, 2011
By Wael Abdelghani I'm new to the Fight Night series of games and I'm not a very serious follower of boxing in general. However, I thought a boxing game would be fun to play and the game's trailer encouraged me to go ahead and purchase Fight Night Champion.
The Good: 1- Champion mode was very fun to play and the story line was pretty cool especially the part in prison. 2- The graphics, visual effects, soundtracks, and sound effects are very good. 3- The wide range of boxers to choose from and the fact that each has his own style which is very much noticeable in gameplay.
The Bad: 1- Online play was a bit of a disappointment. Gameplay is slower in online matches than offline ones and there seems to be a slight lag in the punching and maneuvering. 2- Champion mode is exciting to play, but it's a bit short. I finished the whole thing in like 4 days (around 2-3 hours per day).
The Ugly: 1- well, nothing really... i just felt something would be missing from the review if i didn't add this last header :)
Overall i think it's a great game, and maybe the online thing has something to do with my internet connection which isn't too fast in the first place (however football/soccer games work perfectly fine for example)
Go ahead and buy it if you have the slightest interest in boxing or feel that a boxing game would be fun to play.

By Guillermo Perez Well, first off I pre-bought this game in january and got it the very next day it came out. I am a HUGE Round 4 fan (you can read my review on that).
UPDATE: the game play is much more realistic... you can outfight now... jab is a real jab... hooks are real hooks.

Love Champion and Legacy Modes but.....Mar 11, 2011

I will say this upfront,I am giving this game a 3 out of 5 for one reason ONE PUNCH KNOCKOUTS!
Pros: Amazing looking game Control scheme is differant but it works (Great for old pros and newbies alike) Champion Mode was great! Legacy Mode may be the most we seen from the Franchise yet
Cons: One Punch Knockout!! (Really?.....Really?) Multiplayer is over powered with the ability to buy perks and xp Multiplayer is still a little "buggy" (more an annoyance than an issue) ONE PUNCH KNOCKOUTS!!!!! (Are you serious EA thats what you are bringing to the table?)
Allow me to explain why One-Hit KO's warranted being listed twice. So I am fighting this kid, right, and I have dominated him for 7 rounds, knocked him down twice, avoided big shot, went to the body and wore him out all together. Ding! Eighth round starts I go in for more of the same, the kid can only throw one punch before hes too tired to swing, I decide I have tired of it and want to just finish this match here. I move in for the win, he throws a Right Hook that catches me and "flash" KO's me. REALLY!!!??????? SERIOUSLY!!??? Turns out this kid bought an XP packand leveled his Right Hook all the way. Is this fair? NO! I understand the online pass thing , and frankly I can live with it. I understand its a buisness and they need to protect an income flow, however I feel like EA cheapened thier own multiplayer experience by allowing player to seriously overlevel thier boxers from the get go.
Well now thats out of the way, the game is actually really fun. Champion Mode grabs hold and doesnt let go. The story of Andre Bishops Rise, Fall, and Vengence is truly a masterpiece. Legacy Mode will keep you busy for days. Custimzation options fo ryour fighter are through the roof. This game is visually stunning. This game is a ton of fun, I am not regretting this purchase for a second.
This Game is a definite step in the right direction, just be advised although the thought of winning a World Chamionship with a created boxer sounds very appealing, beware of the right hook!! If you can live with that, This game is buyable, heck id say its buyable on the single-player alone.
Thank you for reading, I hope this helps!

Hire people who know boxing next time, PLEASEAug 29, 2011
By Kevin The actual boxing part of the game earns the 2 stars; the rest of the game is terrible. (1) The scoring of rounds is sometimes really bad. In my first round of my first match, I hit him with more than double the punches he hit me, had a higher connect rate, and I lost the round 10-8. (Neither fighters was downed or even stunned during round) (2) The yearly awards are terrible. During my second year as a pro, I went 4-0(4), all guys several ranks above me, but the guy who won "Prospect Of The Year" had a record or 18-9, and was KO'd twice during the year. Not only that, he retired at the end of the year. Some prospect. (3) Also in awards area, my fighter won "Upset of the Year" by knocking out George Foreman. That might have made sense if I did not already KO him in the first round the year prior. I was upset, if it helps. (4) The fighter rankings are awful. At one point, I looked at the Pound for Pound rankings to see Tommy Morrison was 4th on the list. He lost his last 8 fights at that point, all by KO. Two of those KO losses were by me, and I was ranked 32. (5) No option to turn off that ridiculous way they make you get up after being knocked down. (6) I have not seen a cut fighter yet. I even have fights just to pepper a guy with jabs (or target one eye), the worst that happens is a little redness; the guy will get KO'd before he is cut. (7) Personal note, I hate the dopy games to gain XP points. (8) Whoever gave the fighters their rankings doesn't know boxing. Nearly every fighter is way off, too many to even list here. (If Tyson is a 92, Ali should be a 99, not 93.) I thinks that's about it.

EA Canada Ruins Another FranchiseMar 02, 2012
By J. B. Bell The same crew that brought Tactical Defending into the world of FIFA steps all over another great series. (Now we have to time the button press on our controllers, instead of holding it down, just like the pro players do when they make their tackles!)
If your idea of fun is playing through 95% of a game's main storyline only to have the rules change and watch as what was marketed as a boxing sim becomes a World of Warcraft style four-stage boss battle with a meth'd-out steroidal UberGod, then this is for you. If you want boxing sim, buy one of the prior titles.
