Great graphics, great combo-fighting gameplayDec 07, 2003
By Lisa Shea
"medieval swordfighting enthusiast"
Batman is a cartoon classic, fighting crime in the gritty streets of Gotham City. In this video game, Batman is joined by Robin, Nightwing and Batgirl in his quest to take down Sin Tzu.The graphics are really stellar in a cartooney sort of way. Batman's cape flows behind him as he moves, headlights show dust particles, the puddles of water reflect their surroundings perfectly as you move around. Birds fly up as you approach, cans tumble out of your way. Shadows lighten and darken as you move through areas. The fog effects are cool and when you get gassed, the screen becomes woozy in a VERY neat way. I really give this game high marks for its graphic achievements. On the other hand, being a cartoon, it does seem a bit TOO clean at times. The water doesn't ripple when you go through it. It's more like walking through a Disney version of a "gritty city" - the actual comic was much more gritty. But that's a minor flaw. The sound feels quite appropriate - both the music and the crunches and thwaps. The attack combos are great and fluid, and you get the little color "splats" when you hit an enemy. The game is very much like the Two Towers and Return of the King series in that you learn series of combos and after each mission can buy yourself more for the given character you're using. You get rated on how many of each quality type of attack you use, and can replay levels to better your score. The game for some reason reminds me very much of the old Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game on the ancient Nintendo console. You're a crimefighter in a dark-but-clean city landscape, battling thugs that pop up out of manholes and out of alleys. You can even do co-op play if you want! This game isn't a complex RPG or puzzle game, but for anyone who loves comics or the Return of the King style of levelling up and building combos, this is a fun way to spend your time.

Rise of Rinse and RepeatJul 08, 2004
By coopertex Batman: Rise of Sin Tzu, for the XBox is a Beatem-up game. You can choose from four different characters: Batman, Robin, Nightwing, and Batgirl. Regardless of who you pick, even though the story unfolds a bit differently, the gameplay mechanics remain the same. You must rescue hostages before time runs out. And the way to rescue hostages is to beat-up the bad guys. You are awarded points for making combo attacks. Then at the end of the levels you can purchase (or learn new combo attacks). Punch, kick and then slam the bad guys to the ground. This is basically all you do! Over and Over! Being a fan of the Batman animated series, I do have to give it points for beautiful graphics, which looks like the cartoon. The sound effects are also good! and best of all, they used the same voice-actors from the cartoon. This however, is not enough to save a mediocre game. Pros: +looks like the cartoon +good sound effects +good controls +voice actors from the cartoon +lots of unluckable goodies Cons: -time based missions -linear gameplay -enemies cheat -repetative gameplay -start levels over when you die -A.I. is dumb as a rock -feels like a PSONE powered game -rinse and repeat

Rise of The Dark KnightAug 09, 2005
By Bob parr This is a Basic Beat-em up game, but the graphics are unbelievable! I have been a big batman fan ever since i saw BATMAN BEGINS in the movie theatres. Excellent movie. i also have loved the old cartoon: THE ADVENTURES OF BATMAN AND ROBIN. My Favorite character has always been Robin. Anyway, this is a must have game for any console besides PS2. { The worst in my opinion. the graphics are like paper plates!} I especially like that the levels are longer, and i like to fight a lot, so this game is good. I can't wait to get it for Gamecube.

One of the better Batman videogamesJun 17, 2011
By Mr. Negative This game is a very well-done and enjoyable videogame. Aside from Batman: Arkham Asylum, I, as a longtime fan of the Batman, classify this as the best of the Batman video games that have made it to market.
It is fun to play as all 4 playable characters (Batman, Robin, Nightwing, and Batgirl), as they gave each character different move sets, and it helps the game remain fun and fresh through multiple play-throughs.
This game is backwards-compatible with the XBOX 360, so, of you are a Batman fan, or fan of superhero video games, you won't go wrong with this title.
I can truly and honestly recommend this title, and do so with no reservation.

Great Game...Nov 05, 2006
By Michael J. Pritchard I picked this game up because I was looking for something that both me and my little one could play together. The coop mode is great...you can have 2 people on the same screen...saving the city. It is borderline on the T rating. I would say it is a T rating leaning towards E for everyone.
It isn't hard to learn...you just pop it in and go. Graphics are pretty good!
If you are looking for a game that you and the kids would like to play at the same time...this is it! Entertaining enough for adults...and tame enough for children.
