Description:

After six great wars, darkness has once again fallen on this earth and it is up to the next generation of heroes to rescue their land from the clutches of evil and show their people the light. Each of the four heroes are fighting for their own objectives, some of them are fighting for justice, some for their instincts and others for ascertaining their objectives. This beautiful fighting game differs from games of the same genre by making use of RPG elements like having a large-scale story mode. The characters are fully voiced, animated and are very expressive, you can see the look of concentration or fear on their faces when they launch special attacks or are about to be hit. The game runs on high-resolution screens in the arcades and is going to push the limits of your third generation consoles. With a network mode, you can fight matches with people from all over the world. Catch yourself by timing your gatchi button presses when your opponents threw you into the air. Survival mode where you fight strings of battles until your HP bar depletes completely. Time attack mode where you have to defeat a set number of enemies under a time constraint. Practice mode where beginners learn how to launch special skills and attacks. Gallery mode where you view the event CG and movies you have collected in the story mode.

Features:

Be familiar with the Gachi button, by timing your opponents attacks and pressing the gachi button in time, you can guard yourself from combo attacks.

By combining the direction pad and the gachi button presses, launch combo attacks against your opponents.

Launch skills and special character attacks at the expense of your MP gage

Press onto your attack button without releasing it to charge up your attacks, the longer you charge, the more powerful your attacks are.

When you are at a close range to your opponents, you can pick them up and throw them into the air. When you are caught by your opponents, on the other hand, make use of your timing and gachi button to escape from their grips.

3Pretty good game for a day when you just want be mindlessMar 18, 2009
By Steven Smith "Zeonic Soldier"
I really liked the game for it's simplistic gameplay. It has a lot of subtlety to it but still remains simple. The story mode is cute if you are the type that chuckles at character interactions. I can see it being fun with a lot of friends but I can also see the extremely odd characters putting off people. While it probably isn't making it onto my favorite fighting game list, it has a lot of charm and is easy to pick up. That part I like a lot because it means that friends can learn it without having to study up like they would for most other fighting games. It is a bit of a return to simpler times, like the old street fighters or samurai showdown.

5Great Unique FighterMar 16, 2010
By La crème de plus Web
I loved Battle Fantasia. I'm an old school fighting game fan and I've been playing since the first arcade iteration of SFII. I'm a huge fan of unique characters and artwork and this game has them in spades. Not to mention pretty complex gameplay mechanics if you take the time to get into it. What's so great about Battle Fantasia is even a novice can play and win with great results.... and a more advanced player can really delve into the deeper mechanics. The storylines were pretty interesting and quirky as well.

At a less than $20 price point now is the time to pick up the title if you haven't already.

4Not half bad for an old school type fighterAug 10, 2009
By A. Markley "jotunheim999"
I absolutely loved this game. It's a simplistic return to old school fighters. Considering this came from the creators of the guilty gear franchise, I was expecting it to be a fast paced, thumb blistering affair that requires cat like reflexes to get through the game. I was suprised to learn that it actually had more in common with street fighter more than guilty gear.
I'm not a huge fan of playing fighting games on the Xbox 360, as the joystick to me feels a little too loose and the D-pad is a nightmare to use due to its placement on the controller, but the characters control really well and are very responsive with the Joystick.
The game has a lot of really quirky and weird characters that are set in a fantasy type scenario. Truly, many of these characters are for most intents and puposes old-school-type RPG characters.
The game balances itself pretty well and the characters are well balanced and easy to learn.
However, it only loses one star in my opinion becuase of the tried and true (and somewhat annoying) formula of putting super cheap last boss characters into the game. Granted, with enough practice you can beat him, but in order to do so, you have to be cheap yourself.
The game has really good music, and also seems like something that stepped out of an RPG.
All in all it's a great game and I thought it was well worth the buy.

3Not impressive, but good enoughJul 09, 2010
By Alexander D. Grant
If you are primarily interested in the battle system, then hopefully you are looking for that lower-scale street fighter style of fighting. The game delivers that just fine. The fighting system requires you to spend some time learning it. That is a good thing, as it requires you to actually have skill with a certain character before you can face a worthy opponent.

There isn't a huge compliment of fighters, and it's hard to really get to know them since it's in all Japanese and you just read subtitles during the 'cutscenes.'

The story is presented in a visual novel style. It's not terribly interesting, but its not a bad story. You might find yourself in the beginning, skipping past without reading some things until things get more interesting.

Overall, though, it IS a fighting game. It will amuse you the most if you have plenty of people to play it with, but it is definitely more of a short-term space filler type of game, as opposed to anything epic.

3What to sayOct 04, 2011
By Thomas A. Zulli "Tazz"
First off, I have never heard of this game before. The only reason I picked this game up was because a store I like now sells cheap used games and this was the only game I was somewhat interested in. Now thank goodness this game was cheap. I would have been pissed off if I had to pay full price. Dont get me wrong it is a somewhat fun game. First off the fighting mechanic is fun...but yet has been done.

Now there are several modes, there is arcade (nothing special with no endings) and storymode (you choose who you want to play as and go through their story), online and of course the typical training modes, challenges and artwork. One big problem is the roster only consists of 12 fighters...one of which is the final boss. Some of them are pretty cool, plus we get their backstory before each story begins. However there is one fighter I cant stand...Marco. All he does is complain, cry or scream and whats worst he does it in Japenese with english subtitles (like everyone else).

The storyline was confusing, most of the time I had no idea what the hell was going on. If you want to try it, rent it or look for a very cheap copy.

Pros:
-Individual story modes, with different characters, each unique
-Current price
-Fighting mechanics is fun
-Before each story we learn about each fighter

Cons:
-One word....Marco
-Most of the game is in Japense with english subtitles
-Very few fighters
-Confusing storyline
-Thank goodness I didnt pay full price
-Fighting mechanics has been done before
-Nothing special about arcade mode, and no endings
