Great GameOct 26, 2003
this is a good strategy shot em up game. Not that difficult until you get to the 2nd save point, there are a lot of puzzles and secrets in this game. Fortunately there is a battery backed save so you dont have to start over or use a password. It can be very frustrating at times so just be patient and have fun!

This game is great. If you played and like the original, you will love this one. The save feature instead of a password is cool, but other than that there aren't really any other changes. I love this game, it is really fun.

Challenging and fun, just like it was years agoJun 01, 2006

Blackthorne was one of those games of yesteryear that helped define it's side scrolling/puzzle genre with fluid graphics and challenging gameplay. All these years later and with a superb GBA conversion, Blackthorne is just as challenging and fun as it ever was. You play as Kyle Blackthorne and you're armed with your trusty sawed off shotgun as you navigate through maze-like caverns and take on hideous beasts who have enslaved your people. Along the way you'll have to search for hidden passages, hit the right switch to activate the bridge, blow up some stuff, and the like. The game still looks good to this day, and it still controls like the original Prince of Persia. The only real problem with Blackthorne is the same drawback it had all those years ago: it can get way too challenging to the point where you don't know what to do. It can take a while to figure out, but once you do, the gameplay becomes quite rewarding. All in all, if you enjoyed Blackthorne back when it first hit, and you own a GBA and are in a nostalgia kind of mood, look no further than here.
Awesome game!Jan 27, 2011
By Casey s. Dockendorf I remember playing this game on SNES back in the day and I couldn't believe how awesome it was. (Years later I find out it was developed by the people at Blizzard and somehow that makes it just a bit more awesome). I was a big fan of the game Flashback and this fell right in line with that and even has a little bit of a classic Prince or Persia feel to it as well. It's pretty challenging and has a lot of content to work through each level so it definitely keeps you hooked. I recommend Blackthorne if you are a gamer looking for a classic feeling side-scroller that doesn't involve marines or mushrooms.
Pure nostalgiaNov 15, 2007
By Mick Pure nostalgia! I bought this for my DS to relive a short memory of the past. Who says you can't relive the past? It's good for what it is, and an original.
