Best 360 I've playedAug 22, 2010 When I first bought this at a local GameStop, i didn't know what to expect. I had low expectations for this but I was wrong. Very wrong...
Great Graphics, Bad AI, Good Length...
Awesome Graphics but it can take a while to load the store/restroom. Characters are extremely detailed. Some stores use the same invirement as other stores {Sir-book-a-lot/Sinister Read}. But other than that awesome. The storyline is good. Especially "I've covered wars ya know". lol. The worst thing about it is the AI. AI usally cries and sometimes crawls, I find myself kicking them just to get them up.
Storyline 100
Without the Resident Evil style I didn't know what to expect. Frank West gets dropped off at a mall that's infested with hungry zombies. Yes the game is made by Capcom. He has to wait 72-hours before the helicopter comes back. He meets a few of the main characters and waits for the helicopter and kills zombies, saves survivors and defeat the psychopaths. Psychopaths are the main bosses of the game.
Graphics 99
Definately not the best graphics. The characters are extremely detailed. Sometimes you can't see the graphics from a distance away.
So, graphics look good for 2006.
Challenge 99
The challenge is perfect. The bosses and sub-bosses are difficult. Which is what I look for in a game. The survivors are in different places some 2 or 3 at a time. Some of the survivors attract psychopaths which can be hard.
Length 9/10
Explained above.
Soundtrack 100
The soundtrack is epic. Almost all of the songs are rock and metal. Some are soft and 1 is rap
Total
Dead Rising is a great game in the Xbox 360 library. It stands out as my favorite. 98/100

THE WORST GAME EVER.Jul 15, 2010 this is, hands down, the worst video game ever. i don't even know where to start. you're stuck in a mall filled with zombies and trying to put together the pieces of what's going on. i was completely sold up to that point. now for the playability: the control setup is extremely annoying and there are no alternative set-ups. supposedly, you can "use anything" as a weapon. this is not true. and the objects that you can use can only be used for a certain amount of zombies. now, i'm pretty sure that you could kill way more than 25 zombies with a katana without it going bad! lame! there's also this annoying janitor that calls you on this transceiver every 2 minutes and while you're talking to him you can't do anything else. so if there are zombies anywhere near you're screwed. and the annoying beeper never stops. ever. as for saving: you can only save in specific spots and there is only one "save spot" available on your harddrive. it's literally like playing a game on the original nintendo. there's so much more annoying aspects of this video game but i think that'll just about do it. this game was even a bigger let down than the first PUNISHER movie with Dolph Lundgren.
I Bought Dead RisingJul 05, 2010 This is an overall good game, lots of things to do, but a lot of rushing and a few minuets of waiting in between valuable missions, so if you want a game that goes with your pace then this might not be for you.
Also, I am not sure if it was just my TV but the text was way too small for me to read when Odis would call and give me mission info, as well as the map screen.

A brilliant, but flawed, game that requires an acquired tasteJun 26, 2010 First and foremost, Dead Rising is truly not a game for the casual player, as the talk of it being "GTA with zombies" is misleading. Sure, you're able to go off, grab a chainsaw and mow down the undead to your heart's desire, but to do so would be missing the overall point. In reality, Dead Rising is a title for only the hardcore, as its demanding mission structure, stressful time constraints and limiting save system will put off only the most determined.
You play as Frank West, a photojournalist on the hunt for his next big scoop, who arrives in Wilamette, Colorado to find the town overrun with zombies. Frank eventually ends up in the huge shopping mall with 72 in-game hours (7.2 real-time hours) to find out what caused the zombie outbreak. Frank's quest for the truth constitutes the main storyline, broken up into multipart missions known as Cases which are triggered by certain times/events in the game world. If you miss just one part of a Case, however, you miss the chance to continue through the storyline as the rest of the Cases are nullified and cannot be activated. In addition to the main Cases, there are numerous side missions you can complete, each with specifically allotted time constraints. These side missions almost always entail escorting survivors back to the security room (the game's one true safe haven). Unfortunately, the survivor A.I. is worse than one of the shuffling zombies, as they'll usually refuse to budge or they'll simply run straight into danger. Attempting to juggle the side missions with the main story Cases, along with managing your limited inventory and dealing with several thousand zombies, is what gives the game its unique, stress-fueled flavor. Also, the save system only allows for one save slot, and you can only save your progress at an in-game restroom.
In terms of story, Dead Rising is standard B-horror grade stuff. I've never seen George A. Romero's Dawn of the Dead, but I've heard enough comparisons of it to this game to know Dead Rising isn't 100% original. Frank is not the most likable protagonist, and none of the other characters are particularly interesting, either. The dialogue is often awkward and strangely worded. It doesn't help that the subtitles frequently contain the most elementary errors (Improper use of "they're/there/their?" Seriously?). Yet, the story's entertaining enough to keep you playing with a few major twists involved.
As for the graphics, criticisms about how the game looks "last-gen" are quite unwarranted. The game looks decent enough, but it's definitely not the best looking of this generation. However, this is only because the game is rendering dozens, and at times, hundreds, of zombies at once. To see this many models generated at once is unprecedented, and few other games have since accomplished the same feat.
Despite everything, the game is better than the sum of its parts. Dead Rising is flawed; no question about it. Yet, it is these mistakes and nuances that give the game its personality. Each one of the design flaws (the save system, poor A.I.) makes the game all that more interesting. Once you get used to the flaws and take the game for what it is, you're in for one of the most rewarding gaming experiences of this generation. Otherwise, you might break a few controllers out of frustration in the process.
Lots of fun, but gets oldJun 16, 2010 This game is tons of fun. There is so much to do and see and there are so many ways to kill zombies that you can spend hours entertaining yourself just doing nothing. The only problem is that it can get old after a while and eventually it just kind of feels like a grind if you try to get some of the Xbox achievements. Overall though it's fun and if you're an avid zombie killer this is totally for you.
