4Great Fun But....Jan 26, 2005
By Rob
I come from the generation of Colecovision and Intellivision so I can be easily impressed by any game. But at the same time, I can be totally uncoordinated with all the buttons on the Xbox controller. I actually found this game easy to use and really enjoyed it.

The only issue for me is that I am very color blind so once I got to the Plague Spitter level, I couldn't see the green on green background and had to quit, but I do enjoy from time to time playing the other levels over again (only because I CAN beat them).

If you like games such as Warcraft or Age of Mythology on the PC, this might be too simplistic for you. But, if you enjoy those games and struggle with the complexity of the Xbox controller like me, you just might enjoy the simplicity of this game.

5Finally, a REAL strategy game for the console!Dec 25, 2003
By Phil
I am a huge fan of games such as Age of Empires and the War Craft series. These games focus around strategy instead of mindless hacking and killing.

When I first heard about this game, I was skepticle. How could they make a real time strategy of any quality on the console? The day it came out, I ran to the store, ran home and all my fears dissapeared just watching the fighting going on in the back of the main menu.

When you start the campaign mode, it gives you a nice tuturial, telling you what to need to know when you need to know it. The missions (like in some games i've played) are by no means repetitive. Each has a specific set of goals and different ways to accomplish them. The story line is great considering it comes through short clip screens.

Multiplayer mode was no dissapoitment either. There is something very satisfying about successfully pushing an attack on your base back and then following that up by moving in and giving your opponent a chance to see how it's supposed to be done. Plus, you then earn rights to bragging and smack talk, my favorite thing to do.

The ONE let down in this game is that you can't play a quick match against the computer. I was utterly devastated by this because I already beat the campaign mode and there's not always someone around to destroy. This lack seriously takes away from the replay value. Still, it's only a minor set back, and doesn't completely ruin the game.

And by the way, whoever wrote that freaking review about reviewing the game first...burn, you idiot.

4Great Real Time Strategy game for Xbox ownersJun 15, 2004
By trashcanman
At first I thought this was a second-rate Warcraft clone, and to a large extent it is, but I have to admit that I am having a ton of fun with this game, drawbacks and all. Xbox owners are freakin' starving for strategy games and this one delivers. Warcraft fans should enjoy this game as it is basically a dumbed-down version of that game with a few new quirks and great graphics. One of the fresh ideas is the titans which you control and can use to stomp down many a foe. One of these is a giant ogre that can eat enemies (or allies) to regain health as he swings his club in wide arcs, sending bodies flying. There is also a giant slime that dissolves and absorbs enemy units to increase it's mass and power, a giant boar that launches flaming projectiles and rocks from a catapult on it's back, a lightning elemental, and a giant spiked ball that simply crushes the opposition. Controlling these guys is superfun, but only a small part of combat. As the game progreeses, you take over different goblin clans with various abilities and individualized units. You only get 10 active goblins to a clan at once so choose your units wisely. Each clan (you usually control 2 or 3 at a time) is assigned a button so you can leave one to defend basecamp, one to search for resources (gold for destruction and souls which are earned through battle or at soul fountains), and one to attack the enemies base along with a titan; or you can send all you've got at the enemies at once, or use any other strategy you can think up. These features are what make this game original and fun to play even if you've played Warcraft to death. Sure, the game lacks that game's depth, but it's still a lot of fun and you can't beat the price. Besides, there isn't much RTS competition on the Xbox besides the also excellent Alien vs. Predator: Extinction. The only major drawback to the game besides the aforementioned lack of depth is the lengthy cutscenes spoken in goblin language and subtitled. They are actually quite awesome to look at and the story is cool (if pointless) but they take a ridiculous amount of time because of the subtitles which stay on the screen and hault the conversation so that there is a maddening 5-10 second pause between each line of dialogue, presumably to give you time to read the subtitles. Apparently they think we all read at a 2nd grade level. A single-player, customisable skirmish mode would have done wonders for this game, but there is only a multi-player version which I haven't played yet so I can't review that aspect, though I imagine it's sweet. If you are a RTS fan and an Xbox owner who doesn't play PC games, your prayers are answered (in part) by this game and AVP:Extinction. There are dozens of better RTS's out there on PC. But if that's not an option than this game is highly recommended.

5THIS GAME ROCKS!!!Mar 30, 2004
By Killer Ice Dragon
Ok the moment I saw the cover I thought this would be a great game. I love the way they made the titans, they aren't so powerful that they're invinsible, but they are strong enough to do some SERIOUS damage. Each level is different, which means that it doesn't get boring fast at all. you have to have a different strategy for each level so it's pretty hard. BUT FUN!! The way they gave eacch unit special abilities makes it so that you son't just get the unit that's the strongest. the only setback I found is that the cinematics take so long.

P.S. the person that wrote last review is a TOTAL IDIOT!!!!!

By The one and only "Scorpion"
I do enjoy the game, it is nice to have a semi-stragegy game on x-box, but is anyone else having problems accessing the cheat codes?
