Kobeeeeeeeeeee BryantJan 03, 2000
I love this game! Since I never played NBA Live, you can read my review and weigh it with a grain of salt. You can perform cross overs, post ups, and set picks. Missed MJ? With the Create a player option, you can bring him back to life. There are gripes to this game. One, unlike Griffey, trading is a snap so you can easily create a dream team. Second, the computer can block your shots easily. Since when John Stockton has 4 blocks in a game? Third, the game is a little unrealistic. Once you bump into a defender, you stop your momentum. Also, Reggie Miller averaging only 11 points/ game, but Dennis Rodman scoring baskets? Come on.

This is one of the best sports games on N64. I'll just describe this game on its aspects. The Graphics looked somewhat grainly and the characters faces don't really correspond to the ones in reality. Doesn't have much sound, but good enough. The Presentation is about average due to the ballplayers odd looking appearance. Overall, the game itself makes the save. The game is so good that you will forget about it's graphics and sound. The cool part is that you can custom create Michael Jordan and he truly the air up there.

Polished but unrealisticDec 20, 1999
From the moment the options screen comes on at the beginning, it is clear that this is a carefully and professionally constructed game. Unfortunately, the gameplay does not quite live up to the presentation. For one, AI is not so much intelligence as sheer bloody-mindedness as your players are continually being forced into taking unrealistic shots, the moves are monotonous and ineffective and the ball physics (how it bounces about on the rim) defy any logic. Rebounds, especially on the offensive end, are absolutely impossible to get. However, it must be said that the graphics are excellent even though the animation is a little suspect, and if players shot that laboriously in real life everyone would get ten blocks a game ! Commentary is very good. So all in all, a very well packaged and presented game, but not one for someone who knows anything about the game of basketball; more for the casual gamer. If you're looking for a basketball game, try NBA LIVE...

The first basketball game I ever played.Jul 16, 2000
This was the first basketball game for ANY console that I ever played in my life. It was easy enough and fun! It was a whole lot easier to play than NBA Jam '99, but maybe that's because there was something wrong with the version of that game that I rented. I disagree with anyone saying anything about this game that is bad! Just buy it (or rent it, if you prefer)! This is the best basketball game I've played so far, and you'll like it too!

It's a good game, but a couple of drawbacksNov 24, 2000
This game is very cool. I got it like when it came out in 98. Graphics are ok, the fade-aways are just fine, the jogging and walking is very cool, also how easy it is to trade, sign, and release players. How you can use more than 1 team to play w/ in the season. Now the drawbacks, it really... when you see Mugsy Bogues grabbing rebound, and dunking over Patrick Ewing?!? Kind of ridiculous huh? Also foul shots are so very hard to learn. I played a 52 game season and was waiting so anxious to see what would happen when I won the champion ship, it was like watching ants crawl back to their nest after eating. They walked off the court like nothing at all happened. But I still play the game b/c it's fun to me.
