1Buy Something ElseMar 09, 2008
By Jack Mowreader "Jack"
My kids (14/9/8) received this game for our Wii at Christmas. They had a very difficult time learning how to play so they did not want to play it. I sat down with them and we picked up the hang of the game. It was very difficult for me to play because of the way the game is set up. We played on a large flat screen TV and in dual mode, I could hardly tell where I was supposed to drive. Most racing games have a map feature that tracks where you are on the track and lets you anticipate the turns. This game not only does not have this, it puts messaging across the screen disrupting your view. In addition, some of the darker areas were like driving in a tunnel and I could hardly see where I was going.

The M&M characters were cute but this is too hard for younger kids to master and poorly designed to call it a racing game. Strongly recommend a do not buy.

4Why is it I liked it?Apr 06, 2009
By David M. Hutchins "HUTCH"
Apparently I'm definitely in the minority in my opinion of the game. Given the total investment it is a value. The controls are sensitive and that can be frustrating to newcomers. Once you get "feel" for the game it becomes more intuitive and much easier. My six-year-old daughter and eight-year-old son had difficulty at first, but are now unlocking tracks on their own. The first night I had it, I unlocked all of the tracks and collected enough "chocolate coins" to use any kart in the arsenal. To unlock tracks you simply win on that course in tournament play, then it becomes available for any kind of play. Oddly enough the "house" track, the second or third track you'll race, was (for me) harder than all of the tracks you'll unlock later in the game. Despite another reviewer's criticism, the kart does have reverse by pressing the B button. The B button or A button will apply the brakes. Some of the other criticisms were obviously because the reviewer did not read the enclosed instruction manual. This is not a game that you can just keep the throttle button down the whole time and finish the course. It takes a little finesse, but that is what makes the game challenging and fun. The graphics are not that bad. Of course I am from the Atari generation, so your mileage may vary. I'll agree that the sound effects and commentary do get old. And as others have said there are some dark tunnels on some of the tracks. But overall if you can get it for 15 bucks like I did, you'll get your money's worth. It's really unfair to compare this game to Mario Kart which cost three times as much.

1Why do they hate us so much?Jul 07, 2008
By Brian
That's the only thing I could think of. M&Ms hates us all and never wants us to play video games again.

The controls are terrible. The tracks are a mess. You get caught on every little thing along the edges of the tracks and guess what? No reverse! You want to fling the Wii remote at the screen in rage after just a few attempts at making a circuit. The graphics are uninspired and the audio is wretched. My kids refused to put it back in after one play session.

Save your money! Save your sanity! Save yourselves! Do not buy this game!

1I refuse to buy even the candy after playing this gameJan 09, 2009
By Bret Melby
This may the worst video game I have ever played in my 35 years on this planet. The graphics are merely adequate at best, and that's the high point of the game.

The sound effects are as nerve-racking as anything you will ever encounter this side of a Guantanamo interrogation room.

The actual game play is laughable. The tracks are poorly designed, darkly lit and feature an infinite number of curbs, bumps and corners to stop your racer in his candy-coated tracks. While you try to disengage from these barriers, an unholy screech blares from the speakers.

So, while the candy may not; I certainly wish this game *would* melt in my hands. At least then I would be rid of it.

2Not impressedDec 28, 2007
By JB
It's difficult to control the cars, and the many obstacles in the path of the included "courses" become frustrating very quickly. My older son who enjoys other racing games tired of this one after a few plays.

Not reccommended.
