4Played the game all the way through Here are my thoughtsFeb 09, 2006
By James Beavercreek "brewha03"
This game is a great arcade racing game. Realism is not part of the game and that is fine I really didn't want that. I have seen a lot of people however comparing it to NFSU2 and saying that it blows it away. I somewhat disagree. The only things this game had an advantage on NFSU2 was the licensed vehicles and mods you were able to make. The one thing I however loved about NFSU2 was driving my car around with the engine and sound effects turned up. I loved hearing that engine and the great sound effects. It really improved the game. However Midnight Club Dub Ed seemed to take their sound effects straight from the Grand Theft Auto series. This works fine in GTA but in a cusomizing racing game it is really a let down. I mean the sounds aren't even remotely close to sounding real. I really emphasized on this because it bothered me the most.

The next thing is the graphics. Once again not as sharp as NFSU2 but still good enough to be enjoyable. The details throughout the cities are nice touches. They could have improved this a little but it is good enough where I wouldn't want it any better due to loading times.

Control of the vehicles is fine. The only thing that bothers me is when you press the accelerator button it is full throttle or none. This bothered me because I couldn't cruise around at normal speeds with the manual transmission on. Like for instance I would drive in NFSU2 down some streets at normal speeds in sixth gear like you would really drive the car in real life. In this game you either go full speed or are coasting. It just doesn't feel real.

The gameplay however I believe is where this game does shine. It is challenging and rewarding. There are some races that took me quite some time to complete. Sometimes you will just have to put the controller down and walk away before you start throwing things. I can not tell you how many times I would be a turn away from the finish line in the lead and low and behold here comes a car, bus, or something else out of nowhere and smack! You get passed race over. This game is well worth the money and despite some drawbacks I do reccomend it and hope they come out with a new one.

One more thing. This game dogs on some of the American cars again. For instance the Z06 Corvette has better real life handling and speed times than many of the other cars in the game but you wouldn't know that from the game. It controls like a classic car and doesn't have the speed it should.

5Very Fun, Great Eye-Candy, Cool Looking Cities & Cars - Buy This!!!Jun 18, 2006
By E. Young "Snackaholic"
Recommended. I think this is one of my favorite Xbox games. It looks great driving fast through all these city streets, the detailed eye-candy scenery zooming by... The rain looks great, the snow looks great & makes a cool vortex trail behind yours & other vehicles... Different times of day are looking good here, I feel driving at midnight is the best. A lot of fun... The sounds are real cool too (did another reviewer complain?) You don't have to be Einstein to play this, it's very arcadish in a good way, but some events are pretty challenging. You've got so many cars here, big old classics & hella new cars as well including SUV's, plus a variety of motorcycles. Each vehicle type requires a different driving style (of course) & there a speacial weapon-attacks that vary according to vehicle type that add a fun, optional dimention to gameplay. Customization is extensive & off the hook. You can get a collection of very sweet rides to race in & you can take them onto Xbox Live... I am playing this game alot & I often use a "open all maps" cheat to just go ahead & race where ever I want, no problem (all games should have cheats). This is a beautiful looking, sounding & playing game, one the programmers should be proud of & one any Xbox owner should have.

5What Street Racing Should BeJul 24, 2005

Midnight Club 3 smashes all of it's competition (by that I meen Need for Speed Underground 2) completly out of its path. I used to think NFSU2 was the best racing game ever until I got Midnight Club 3. It has an amazing car selection of licensed vehicles, and the best custimization I've ever seen. The cities are greatly designed and the soundtrack is the best video game soundtrack I've ever heard yet. If you love cars and motorcycles, custimization, and great street racing , or like them all even a little bit, Midnight Club 3 should be yours. After all, it's what street racing should be.

5If they mated: NFS Underground+Midnight Club 2Apr 27, 2005
By Jessie
Sure, Need For Speed Underground was great, but lets face it, didn't you wish you could ride your tricked out ride freely through a sprawling city like in Midnight Club 2? I know I did. Midnight Club 3 takes the best of Underground and the best from Midnight Club 2, makes them EVEN better, and combines them into one game.

Now, you can not only costumize your ride by changing every thing from the color of the brake calipers, to the decals, to the mud flaps, to the rim size, to the license plate states and letters/numbers, they all control just as silky as they did in Midnight Club 2 (accurate handling be damned!), but you can now take a cruise freely through the city just as you did in MC2.

The result is the ultimate racing game you always dreamed of.

My one complaint? You can't run over people anymore. I'm not sadistic, and I don't want gore or puddles of blood or anything, but it was amusing how people would go flying over your hood in the previous installment, curse you out, and get back on their feet. Now they just cry out in fear and run right through your car like the old Driver games. They don't say anything funny anymore.

If you liked Need For Speed's customization but also want to ability to drive around and explore freely like in Midnight Club 2, then Midnight Club 3 is a MUST.

5RockStar does it again!Apr 13, 2005
By Dion "IceStorm"
If your thing is tuning a car and then taking it to the streets to race, this game is for you. If you liked Midnight Club 2, then you will love this game. For starters, the racing in this game is fast, very fast. This game does a good job of simulating the fact that you are doing 150+ mph. The branching paths during the race is also a welcome change a pace. NFSU2 pretty made everyone go the same way, where that's not the case with this game.

The major addition to MC3DE is the ability to tune your ride. The game does not disappoint in this area. You have a ton of options when it comes to "pimpin your ride". The variety of vehicles is also a plus. In my opinion, they have a better selection of cars than NFSU2 offers. If you want to pimp out a Chrysler 300C, go right ahead. Maybe you would like to see what a Lexus G430 would like if it were sitting on 22 inch rims. You can do it. The online play is stellar with no lag. The map editor will put your creativity to the test and the soundtrack is banging with it's variety of music! Gotta give it Rockstar, they know how to make fun games!
