You have to get this game!Jul 28, 2003
When I rented this game at All The Best video, I was stunned at how fun this was! First you get to create your own wacky character with cool hats and sunglasses! Then you go around the neighborhood talking to the characters, but you can only talk to the characters, get inventory items etc. in story mode. Play mode is just about playing the games in the neighborhood and nothing else. Here are a list of all the games that you can play and my comments. MARBLES This game is frustrating at first, but you should get the hang of it sooner or later. VOLLEYBALL This game is pretty fun ,but very hard. CHEMISTRY This game is about putting the same color squares together and when in laser mode you can zap as many squares as you want until time runs out. This game is very cool and fun. LAWN MOWERS This game is about racing Lawn Mowers. It sounds pretty weird doesn't it? This game is very hard to control and I haaven't mastered it yet. CHICKEN HERDING Okay this is the weirdest game that's in My Street. You try to lure chicks and chickens in your little chicken house. It's very frusterating when the pig gets in there. You lose 200 hundred points! RC Racing This is just like Lawn Mowers only the tracks are a little different. I like this just as much as Lawn Mowers. DODGEBALL This is my all time favorite game! You play in the School Gym with no gym teachers. I hope this review was helpful so, buy this game you won't regret it!

"Someone's Dad"
(PS2 version)
I finally had to break down and buy this game for our kids for Xmas. Nearly everytime we'd go to the rental store my 8yo son would want to rent it. (Son 8, daughter 5, son 3).
I've read the reviews here and find it really interesting the huge gap in opinions.
For the most part my kids never played the story mode. Although my son found it interesting once I got him to try it. They preferrred to play in game mode where they could simply choose which game to play.
Other than volleyball they seem to have little problems playing the mini-games. Marbles and dodgeball is their favorite.
I've played along with them and have found no issues with control or graphics. Yes, the name-calling of the characters is extremely obnoxious and border-line rude. I'm not sure it will teach kids positive behaviors in that respect. Still the games are fairly entertaining.
Certainly I wouldn't recommend spending a ton of money for this game but if you can find it for $20-$25 there's a good chance it will get some good playing time.

Not great but...Jul 04, 2004

I bought this game a while ago thinking that it might be a little bit like Shenmue for kids but...it aint. While the game does have a large world to explore, for the most part you can't interact with much of it, the world is mostly a giant painting you move around in. You also can't explore as much of it as I would like. Your characters mom seems to have the ability to telepathically know when your near the edge of town and prevents you from going farther. I wanted to head over to the school but nooo. The games were pretty fun but you have to beat them pretty quickly if you want to beat the game. The key is to get the chicken game out of the way as quickly as possible so you can start making money to save up for a RC car. The RC cars are probably the most difficult of the games with a small window of error. The funnest game to play for me was volleyball. The lamest for me was that stupid chicken game. I didn't know what was going on half the time. Just get enough arrows in the chicken's path and hope for victory. Although the games are pretty fun at times, the real reason to buy this game is to create the freakiest kid ever. I probably spent more time creating different freaky kids. If you beat the game then you can unlock even wierder faces The voices for the kids are silly, particularly the girl voices. "The piggies must lose." Good stuff. At any rate, it's not that great a game but if you always wanted to run around town as Hannibal Lecter Jr. then this might be right up your alley. P.S. The piggies must lose!

its fun but could be betterMar 18, 2003

I read a lot of reviews on the net about this game before deciding to purchase it. I am a 21 year old gamer so I was a little hesitant to purchase this game thinking that it may be a little too "young" for me. Most reviews you will read will tell you the control is really awkward. I have found no real problems with the control. The buttons are of course different for evergame so you need to keep the manual out, memorize them or just write them down someone...its not that tough. As for sound..well lets just say i would rather listen to records while i play this game. The voices are very annoying and the music is well music. To take care of this issue i just keep the volume off and listen to my records. As for online play, the biggest reason i was interested in this game, well its decent. The online play is much better than atv offroad fury 2 but not at all as good as tony hawk proskater 4. The biggest flaw is that the game doesnt support a usb keyboard. My guess on why is because sony hasnt made an official ps2 usb keyboard yet so in their eyes they dont exist. You have to type your messages in on screen and thats just way to slow and very annoying. At this point in time there are not a whole lot of people online playing this which is a shame because the game it self it tons of fun and can be pretty addicting. I am hoping because this game is still so new that more players will be picking it up soon and playing online. The game looks very childish but is actually pretty fun and addicting. It does have its few small flaws but you can overcome those pretty easily. The game is obvisouly not going to be to everyones taste so if your unsure your probably going to want to rent first.

Great game for childrenApr 13, 2005
By Cyberdine First, I should point out that Sony took down the online servers for this game so the online feature is no longer available.
This is one of the few games out for the PS2 that is geared towards young children and I've rated it as such.
My Street is Sony's answer to Nintendo's Mario Party series of games. Overall it has moderate replay value and in the end my 4-year old son enjoys playing it but prefers Mario Party.
If you have young children and do not own a Gamecube then I would recommend getting this game, otherwise you'll want to pass on this one.
