Needed Extra SpeedNov 19, 2010
By Michael Kerner
"Michael Kerner"
When it has came down racing games, there have been few and far between that've been said to deliver for the Wii. The most definitive has been Mario Kart Wii, because of the way it has changed gamers to not only deliver, but thrive as racers. But with one that is very definitive for a system, there is always one that does show that it needs improvement. That has been the case with the Need For Speed franchise. The games haven't always been as strong as they were when they were out for the Nintendo Gamecube era like Need For Speed: Underground 1 & 2, and the Need For Speed: Most Wanted days. But, it has really been very hard to see a Need For Speed game really shine for the Nintendo Wii. With the past ones like Need For Speed Carbon, and Need For Speed: Pro Street. Now, they have decided to back to its P.C. roots with a new version of Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit. But is this pursuit worth the bounty? Well, yes and no.
Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit for the Nintendo Wii, tries to deliver a strong and extremely hard-hitting race to the finish, while avoiding the heat of the cops while trying to cross the finish line. You do have strong and challenging races to master against others in classic challenges like Hot Pursuit mode, and new challenging Rush Hour game, where you are competeing to race your way to the head of the pack, in a 100 car race to make it to the top. The graphics in the game though could've been a lot more to shine upon, and the control on the Wii Wheel, and the Nunchuck & Wii-mote could've been more, but the control handles better with the Classic Controller, or Nintendo's Gamecube controller. The sound of the game also could've shined more with fist-pumping jams and more feedback from the police, as you're trying to race. There also could've been more challenges to play with in the heat of the chase.
All in all, Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit for the Wii isn't a bad game, but it just could've been a bit more to race with. While I do like the game, I really was hoping there just was a bit more to master as you become the most wanted in game. While it isn't bad as a try for those whom have never played Need For Speed games on the P.C. or the video game systems, you really could've expected more heat. I really hope there is still is a better one down the road for Wii gamers, so can feel the chase a bit more to the extremes.

very disappointedNov 17, 2010
By wgh It looks like they spend 99% of there time to develop a nice youtube trailer. But forgot about the game itself. Even the previous version of NFS is much better in game-play and graphics. Don't buy this game!! Well you can buy mine ;-)

Typical NFS Graphics need workNov 17, 2010

After only having the game a couple of hours, one thing stands out. The graphics! Both visual effects as well as audio. They look and sound like an after-thought. After watching the clips on the web, I am sorely disapointed. Should keep my 13 year old entertained, but, he is not happy with the F/X either. Update. "Driving" the cars is not as smooth as in previous versions. Checking prices at a game store for trade-in value even after just a few days of owning the game.

What you should knowDec 08, 2010
By Robert Deere Until now, I never wrote user reviews. I also never felt as deceived by marketing tricks like now, after purchasing NFS:HP. If you are looking for a good racing game for Nintendo Wii, i strongly recommend not purchasing this game and rather go for the new "FlatOut Wii" which is better in any aspect. I purchased NFS:HP Wii and was dissapointed by it's quality. The menu and music are nice, but the gameplay and especially graphics are terrible. It all feels like it's a very quick port from PC and I feel bad about purchasing it. If EA / Criterion can't properly port it to the Wii, why bother at all?
+ It has a Need for Speed logo on it. Only a valid reason if you want to complete your NFS collection, as I did... + The menu and the overal presentation is nice. + The music and sound effects are reasonably good.
- The graphics make you think you purchased a SuperNintendo 16Bit from 1994 instead of a Nintendo Wii from 2010. What happened here? - The gameplay. If you thought Criterion, responsible for those great Burnout games, did a good job on this new NFS: Think again. - The whole feeling of the game is that it's a quick port of the PC version. Which it probably is. Nintendo should forbid bad ports like this. - Costs way too much. $50 for a quick port, meanwhile FlatOut is an exclusive Wii title for $20. Hmm... - If you want NFS: HP, make sure you've got a heavy PC and purchase the PC version. Or X360. Or PS3. Not the Wii version.
Summary: Deceived by it's marketing, i purchased NFS:HP for Wii :( So if you're in doubt of purchasing NFS:HP, check the screens of the Wii version, read user reviews (not the press reviews!) and first check out similar games. If you're like me, you probably are more happier by purchasing FlatOut Wii. (where i wrote my second user review, ever:) )

Worst Need For Speed Game EverNov 18, 2010
By Six Flags Magic Mountain Man This has to be the worst Need For Speed game ever made and I preordered the game in October. The game isn't how it has been described on the trailers. The bad part part about this is that I had high hopes that this game was going to be good and now I"m very disapointed in EA for even bothering to release this on the Wii. I've been a loyal customer to the Need For Speed Franchise since the realese of Need For Speed Underground back in 2000 or 2001 by being the owner of all the Need For Speed games since then.EA wonders why their sales for the Wii aren't as good the other systems. The reason for that is they cut too many corners and leave out the best features in their games for Wii. I preordered the "Limited Edition" copy of the game. As turns out it doesn't exist for the Wii because when I called EA about my refund and I was told that the limited edition content was a typo. Bottom line is do not buy this game for the Wii. If you have already purchased this game for someone as a christmas gift or bought it yourself. Do yourself a favor SEND IT BACK AS SOON AS POSSIBILE!!. Trust me you will not regret it. If you have an Xbox 360, PS3 or PC then go ahead and buy it for those systems because I've heard nothing but great reviews for those verisons of the game.
