4Fun and flashy fighterDec 23, 2007
By N. Durham "Big Evil"
SNK Playmore continues their line of solid, classic 2-D fighters for the PS2 with NeoGeo Battle Coliseum, which is by far the flashiest, and perhaps the most fun, of the bunch yet. NeoGeo Battle Coliseum features a horde of fighters from various SNK games: Fatal Fury, King of Fighters, Samurai Showdown, Last Blade, and even Metal Slug among others can be found here. What really makes NeoGeo Battle Coliseum so fun is that it is surprisingly easy to pick up and play. Even if you are a novice to the style of SNK's fighting games, you won't have too much of a problem getting into the gameplay and fighting mechanics. However, this also showcases the biggest flaw of the game as well: the fighting engine itself isn't very deep. Compared to SNK's own recently released King of Fighters XI, NeoGeo Battle Coliseum's fighting system can't even compare. That aside, Battle Coliseum is more about flashy, beat 'em up action than a deep and involving enginge, and the character sprites are big and well animated, as are the backgrounds. It should also be noted that Battle Coliseum suffers from a ridiculously hard, and cheap, end boss; which has been a signature of SNK's fighters for years now. That aside, NeoGeo Battle Coliseum is a wonderful 2-D fighter that longtime fans of 2-D fighters and SNK's library will get much enojoyment out of for sure.

5Got it today, and it rocks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! snk's finest jewelDec 18, 2007
By J. A. Balbin Jr. "Mr. Facts"
im proud to be the first to drop the reviews, on this masterpiece. best graphics, very flashy, fighters look great ( my favorites, the samurai showdown dudes). different endings, artworks, character designs, THE WORKS!!!!!!... I thinks its nicer than kof 2007 but thats just my opinion...only one little thing i didn't like. there are pauses between rounds, thats a little annoying, unlike kof xi that does not..i just wish the fights were consecutive like kof xi, but still that doesn't take the glory out of it. it still kicks butt. im new to this puppy, i heard you can do tag team damage, like 2 vs 1 but that i still have to learn. other than that, this game is very, very, very rare..no gamestop in miami has it yet, probably is low in print...well, what i mean by that is ,,if you can get it in amazon for 14.99, dont even think it twice..grab your copy today, cause its the best snk game on the market period!!!!!

5Plenty of variety & funJun 07, 2010

This game has a very fast pace. Load times are minimal.

Survival mode is all about endurance. Arcade mode is all about speed. Tag mode is more the "standard" fighting game with a neat little twist. 3 distinct modes, 40 fighters, 7 difficulty levels. I'd say it should have something for novice to advanced & most everyone in between. As a fan of the KOF series, I was already familiar with those fighters. The Samurai Showdown guys are also pretty darn cool. A solid 2-D fighter.

Tip on unlocking Goodman. I think I did it on my 4th or 5th try with one of the girls slide kicks & Mudman's super special taking out the bosses then died two matches later. Yuki can beat most regular opponents with his slide kick on level 1. The bosses come out at after about every 5 rounds(6,11,16,21 I think). If you have 3 specials stored, all you have to do is use 3 Mega Beams consecutively RIGHT AWAY to beat the bosses & build up again against the regular opponents. You can use someone other than Yuki as well with the same basic formula approach. I've now attained 60 consecutive victories in Survival mode mostly thanks to Hanzo (SNK's RYU) alone (like had the game 3 weeks). The Mars People are another great choice. Thier special attack works nicely. I'm sure you'll find your own favorite(s) to use.

5If you're an SNK fan...Feb 13, 2012

Don't even think twice if you're an SNK fan! This is a fun little game that was completely overshadowed by other titles and the PS3. This game represents the end of an era and it is FULL of fun! Big character selection and great gameplay = BUY!
