An interesting game, that unfortunately.....Jan 28, 2005
By AngelosOne I think people overlooked. The story itself is quite simple, but it still keeps you interested nontheless.
The game, however, shines in the gameplay aspect. It uses the havock physics engine, so that means enemy bodies have a nice ragdoll effect, which makes it oh so satisfying to kill them using your psi powers. Telekinesis killing, by grabbing an enemy and constantly smashing him against stuff is quite fun.
One person wrote on a review about enemy spawning? In a way, he is correct. For the most part, the enemies are in place (which means that it is a smart thing to use Remote viewing to plan your tactics), however, there are some instances where enemies will spawn our of thin air; this usually happens when you trigger a "special" event. The most glaring case of this is early on in the game, where there are rooms that if you flip a switch, the door closes and gas gets pump into it. You see, nothing happens as long as you don't go into the rooms- just use tk to get any items that are inside those rooms- if you do go inside, you'll find that an enemy suddenly appears and flips the switch (trapping you in with the gas going into the room). Of course, this doesn't really retract from the game.
The graphics are solid. Sure, some textures aren't the best, but for the most part, the game is pretty dark that you won't notice. The character models are pretty good, with enough detail in faces to provide convincing facial animations.
It's a good game, especially for it's price. I suggest you buy it.

Not too bad...Jul 29, 2004

I bought this game because my very trusted gaming magazine (Game Informer) rated this game 9.0/10. It was very cheap for a new game, and it sounded kind of cheezy, but I decided to give it a chance.
The graphics in the game are very nice, but the cutscenes are not as polished as some games. However, the game plot kind of pulls you in, making you wonder what's going to happen next. There are several bosses in the game, none of which I've played yet, but they remind me of Metal Gear Solid bosses. You are well aware of their presence and powers (each one specializes in one of the various psi powers), and you recognize their abilities as above yours. This appealed to me as it is building suspense throughout the game.
The psi powers are lots of fun. Telekinesis (reminds me of push/choke of the Jedi Knight games) is a lot of fun. It can be used on just about every object in the game (and there are always plenty of things to throw). At one point, I remember seeing a gaurd around the corner, and instead of stepping out and getting in a fire fight, I grabbed an explosive barrel, and threw it blindly around the corner. It nailed him dead on and cooked him crispy. The other powers are fun as well. Mind drain is particularly awesome, because as you drain your enemy his head eventually explodes!! (the only downside is Mind Drain only works as a stealth kill or on a dead enemy--yielding less power).
The game is EASILY played either stealthily or full on war (an element lacking in other games who claim this is possible). Fighting with guns is decent, though psi powers are funner. My only complaint is that sometimes I appear to be locked on, and when I unload my gun on an enemy, I end up hitting the top of the box in front of me or something stupid. You can also only carry one primary weapon (rifle, shotgun, etc.) in addition to your silenced pistol at any one time.
Even the simplest moves you are able to perform are fun, and there are several points in the game where you can kill guards in special ways (sucking them into a fan, throwing them in a crematorium furnace). You get to throw objects at them, use them for cover (not like Splinter cell, but hold them with TK). You can use Remote Viewing to walk (out of body--thus invisibly) into the next room to scout ahead, and do numerous other things.
I wouldn't say it is the best game out there, but it is definitely fun--even if you're just goofin around. The controls are easy easy easy and sometimes it is fun just throwin people around (which is the first power you get). I give the game an 8/10 because some things felt choppy, and the plot seems sort of half copied half badly written, but nonetheless suspenseful and OK.
There is not very much gore--in fact, I think the only gore that is even apparent is when a special kill is made (sucking them into a fan) or when you stealthily Mind Drain a live guard. I definitely recommend a rental or a cheap purchase (as long as you pay no more than $30--the price I got at Wal-Mart).

Psi Ops, One of the greatest games EVER for XboxMay 17, 2006
By McReaper_119 What do you get when you cross third person shooting with an array of Psychic powers. An absolutely awesome mind bending adventure with to many sharp twists to name.
Psi Ops is not your average third person shooter. It is the best third person shooter EVER and I feel sorry for any shooter fan who passes this up. It got an 8.0 out of 10 (OXM)and a 8.7 out of 10 (EGM). Some of the powers are a little much (cough Aura View cough) but is otherwise a great game. I love this game and HIGHLY recomend it to anyone who likes to shoot guns and throw people around. Also, don't compare it to Second Sight, Another good game, because it is seriously different.

Graphics:9
Gameplay:10
Story:7
Sound:8.5
Replayability:8
also an insane amount of unlockable content

I was given this game as a gift, and figured I'd give it a try. I'm not much of a gamer, but I was immediatly caught up the story of Scryer.
You start with an impressive cinematic movie explaining how Nick Scryer came to be caught in the situation he's in. You also state with nothing but a paethic pistol but work up through the game through 'training sessions' that show up as flashbacks. You eventually 'remember' your psy abilities, and use them accordingly.
I thought the training sessions were easy to follow, and you can also skip through them if you choose. They also mimic the real game and its troubles accordingly.
Game controls are pretty instinctive, and you gain more use of the buttons as the game progresses. A few times I'd use my pyro (fire) skill instead of picking somone up to throw them, but the end result was still the same.
Where was I? Ah yes, the game has save places which was the only problem I had with this game. I hate save spots, which means you die, you have to go through that area ALL OVER AGAIN. Its annoying to say the least. However, once you ignore that little fact, the game is rather linear. You move from one level to the next, being aided by this fellow psy-ops who also explains your history and skills.
I really loved this game, and found the playability rather fun too. I give this a double thumbs up.
Just an added note: You can also find cheats on the Internet, but I have yet had to use any.
