Description:

In UBI Softs Rocky the cartoonish spinning, backwards punches, and rope-crashing choreography of the movie franchise are replaced by sound boxing fundamentals and realistic moves. Boxing purists will be well pleased with the realistic game design, including dead-on graphics and enough jab, hook, clinch, and taunt capability to satisfy any bloodlust. Movie fans will enjoy controlling or opposing all the Rocky legends, from the Aliesque "King of Sting, Master of Disaster" Apollo Creed to Clubber Lang, Ivan Drago, and more. While the gameplay is no giant leap forward (even from boxing classics like Sega Genesiss Evander Holyfields Real Deal Boxing), this game is a must-have for Rocky fans, a good buy for boxing fans, and a pleasant, if not revolutionary, choice for gamers. --Patty Stuart

5Rocky: Simply the Best !Oct 13, 2002

Having played the Playstation 2 and Xbox and versions of the game at ECTS 2002 trade show I can tell you that Rocky is quite simply the best movie licences ever produced and one of the best games you will have played for many a long year.
Fans of the movie are going to love it because the game has a visual flair and an immense depth that recreates the sweet science of boxing perfectly and even if you have no knowledge of the Rocky films you will not believe the enjoyment this game can induce.

The boxing itself is easily the best 3D interpretation of the sport to date and makes all other contenders, such as Knockout Kings 2002, Ready 2 Rumble and Mike Tyson's Boxing, look punch-drunk has-beens surviving on past glories.
The graphics are excellent, great lighting effects, fully 3D crowds, and the atmosphere and fantastic soundtrack all use the Playstation 2 and Xbox power to full effect.

The single player mode is superb, but get together with some friends for a session in Exhibition mode and you can expect whoops and hollers to rival the best multiplayer games.
In fact this game has the only multiplayer game to rival Halo.

This brilliant arcade boxing game is based on all five films, and a worthy accompaniment to them. The beauty is that gamers unfamiliar with the series will admire Rocky for its power and simplicity, while film buffs who know little about games will appreciate how true the spirit of the celluloid version it is.

It has captured the essence of Stallone's scripts, acting and OTT fight sequence with remarkable flair.
Fan of the movie? Get Rocky! Fan of boxing games? Get Rocky? Fan of the Playstation2/Xbox? GET ROCKY

4Pretty good, not the bestJun 07, 2003
By Mark David Frankel
This game is pretty good, but it is certainly not the best it could be. This game has the "Good Things" and the Bad Things." I'll start with the good.
The Good Things
1.The graphics are good, but not the best. Some of the boxers are not as muscular as they should be, but the graphics aren't solid like The Legend of Zelda Windwaker.
2. The story is great. It basically follows the Rocky movie series. I do wish you could be boxers like Clubber Lang and Apollo Creed during movie mode.

3. Every button on the left control pad is a punch, and you can use the arrows and the "R1" button to combine with the other buttons to make a stronger or faster punch.
4. The variety of characters is amazing. Once you beat the game, there are many characters, such as Ivan Drago, you can be during exhibition mode. Now for the bad things.
The Bad Things
1. On movie mode, once you get to a certain point the game becomes virtually impossible. The beginning of the game through the Rocky IV part is no challenge.
2. It is really hard to gain points for strength, speed, stamina etc. unless you use auto train. The only easy one to gain points is for strength. You also lose points when you win a fight.
3. You almost always fight a boxer with points that exceed yours. But for me, stats doesn't really matter, because I kick their butts!
Those are really the goods and the bads about Rocky. If you are a huge Rocky fan, I definitely reccomend this game. If you are uncertain about the game, like I was, rent it first. Again, this isn't as good as it could be, but overall is a really good game.

5Amazing GameMay 16, 2005

I was in Sam's the other day, and I had 15 dollars to blow. I had a choice between this game and Knockout Kings, both obviously older games. I chose this one, thinking that the movie mode would be good. Boy was I right. I have never before beat a game by myself. Usually I get to about the 5th level and just give up and my brother beats it. Not so with this one. You have to fight in the actual venues Rocky fights in, from the chapel to the Philadelphia Arena. The only thing was that it is maybe too easy. The only boxer that I had trouble beating was Big Chuck Smith. This game stays true to the movies and the graphics are wonderful for a game made in 2001. Also this game stays true to actual boxing, not this street fighting stuff that some games have (Although Rocky does fight Tommy Gunn outside Mick's Gym). This game was definitely worth the 15.00 I paid for it, and I would reccomend it to anyone

5ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLEFeb 09, 2004

iu myself am a huge fan of the movies so I had to get the game, and it was worth while to.
It has great sound affects and the graphics are great, along the way you can fight from spider rico to the greats like Ivan Drago and Tommy Gunn.
I reccommend it for anyone!

4GET THIS GAME!!Jan 20, 2004
By Adam Lorenz
If you are a fan of the movies, you are going to love this game. It is difficult enough to be a chalange, yet the controlls are simple enough to be enjoyable. One of the best boxing sims i have ever played. The unique training mode really makes the game.
