5Nowhere you can't goAug 25, 2004

From the empire state building to the statue of liberty to the daily bugle,there's nowhere you can't go.Spider-man 2 is like a grand theft auto meets Spider-man meets true crime without the guns.The controls you'll learn in the first 10 minutes but swinging takes time to get used to.The map is huge.You can go to the empire state building,the statue of liberty,Oscorp,the daily bugle,Central park,and even you can see the twin towers memorial at night(well thats what I heard).Now on to Gameplay.

Gameplay:

The game is like the movie and it makes you feel like your really Spider-man.I mean you've got to get to MJ's play on time,deliver pizzas,go take pictures of yourself for the daily bugle,and more.Now you can see why Peter doesn't want to be Spider-man anymore cause on your way to your destination something happens which include banks being robbed,break ins and more.

Baddies:

Doc Ock is the main baddie but others such as Mysterio and Rhino are in the game as well.Even Black Cat is here but she's got no powers.

Audio and Graphics:

The audio is good and the music is great for someparts.The graphics are great too.Only the people in distress don't really have much detail.You will see the same people alot.Their mouths don' move which is ok.The cutscenes are excellent,even Black Cat looks real and Spider-man is perfect.

Swinging:

Now comes the best part,swinging.Theirs two types:Easy and Normal.Easy is well...Easy,but Normal swinging gives you more control over your webbing.This time you have to hit something to swing which means no more swinging on a invisible roof.Web zip is not the same.Instead of zipping like in the first one,It's like the movie how Spider-man pulls himself up to start swinging but it's still ok.

Overall:

Overall,this is a really great game.If your a Spider-man fan you'll like it like me,or if your looking just for a good game, you'll like it too.I suggest playing it or renting it before buying it that way you won't buy a game you don't like.Overall I give it a 10.

5Spider-man 2 = an instant buyDec 13, 2005

I know the first Spider-man movie game sucked. But Activision has worked very hard on this free range action game. The training is very helpfull and the controls are easy to adapt to. I thought this game would do one thing wrong and that would be what you would do after you beet the story mode, but unlike most games this one doesn't go back to the menu screen after you win. Instead you are free to keep swinging arond the city and stopping crime even after you complete the story mode. I personally didn't care for the story mode that much but my friend did and he's a huge Spider-man fan. The graphics are prety good once you set aside the facts that alot of people look the same and this game can get prety repetitive. The audio is very well done and I haven't seen gameplay like this sice Halo! Don't waste money renting this game if you get a chance to buy it DO!

Graphics = A-

Audio = A

Controls = A+

Gameplay = A+

5Spider-man, Spider-man, Kickin' Ass Like a Spider CanAug 23, 2004

It's been a very long time since I've played a game this fun. As is commonly known, games based on movie licenses are supposed to suck. This game does not, in any way.

The first thing needed for playing the game is to learn the rop-- err, the webs. Learn how to move, swing, jump, etc. Spidey can crawl on walls, leap up then, run across them, swing, slingshot himself, tie enemies to traffic lights, and do whatever a spider can, and more. You'll have to purchase upgrades as the game goes on (sometimes in order to unlock the next chapter), but by far, this is the best thing about the game: simply leaping and swinging through the city.

The engine seems reminiscent of Grand Theft Auto 3 (and beyond) in that you can travel the entire city, doing missions and jobs. The difference is, you help people instead of hurt them, and you've got super-powers, which give this a longer shelf-life (I love Grand Theft Auto, but it does get boring after a while.)

The storyline deviates from the movie a bit, taking you through different locales, events, and adding in some characters to make the game more diverse. Which brings me to another good thing about this game aside from web-slinging: It's hard. A lot of people don't like hard games, but I do. Not hard as in cheap, fixed combat. Hard as in, your fingers have to WORK to play this. I spent over an hour playing the Mysterio chapter, and after beating it and deciding to call it a night, my fingers ached from all the work they had to do. I haven't had one of my appendages ache since the button-tapping in Metal Gear Solid, and that was just my thumb.

To solidify the experience is the video and audio. While the camera can be erratic when climbing on a narrow surface (such as the construction yard,) it's otherwise good, and remains in your control. The graphics are marvelous, and while they're a little more pixelated on the PS2, the X-box and Gamecube versions are pretty solid. The music would have been better if it had parts of Danny Elfman's score for the movie, but I can understand the copyright issues there. But the audio benefits from the voices of Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst, and even moreso from the instruction tutorial by none other than Bruce Campbell.

If you enjoy challening, fun games that really give you the bang for your buck, Spider-man 2 is the game for you.

5Awesome Game!Jan 16, 2005
By Squirt "AJ"
It's a really good game. It's fun to swing around New York and the Statue of Liberty. The graphics are awesome. It's a bummer that it is rated T, since I am only 8 1/2 years old, but my parents sometimes let me play it. I love to play it and my parents think I play it too much. I can't wait till Spiderman 3 comes out.

5Can you say best game ever?Jul 14, 2004

About 2 weeks ago, I bought Spiderman 2 and instantly knew this was the best game ever. From Chapter 1 ( That's how they divide the game. The equivelent of a chapter is a level)It was exilirating.After learning the basics You can easily zip from one end of the city to the next. You get to battle a whole cast of great enimies including Quentin Beck, Mysterio, Shocker, a whole bunch of Thugs, and Doc Ock. What's differnet about Spider-man 2 is that there is a whole new swinging system where you actually have to find something to swing on not just thin air. This may sound like a pain but its the best thing ever because now you have to figure in gravity and physics so you actually feel like you are swinging through the air.There is also a whole bunch of awards you can get by doing or collecting various things. While playing the game you have to accumulate Hero Points. You can get these by solving various street crimes or pulling of cool acrobatic moves. HWat do you do with these points you ask? You go to one of the many stores scattered around the city and buy amazing powerups and new moves.You also get to swing and explore New York City monuments like the Brooklin Bridge and The Statue of Liberty. What I find to be another great part of the game is that the missions are not simple. It will take you a few tries before you actually get past the chapter. Another addition to this game is Black Cat. With her you will take down Shocker and many thugs. When you beat the final battle with Doc Ock and see the credits roll you assume its the end of the game. But it's not. For the next chapter you have to get 50,000 Hero Points( An insane amount!) I have not yet beaten this but I hope there is more after. So all in all if you have even a speck of intrest in Video Games you will instatly find out this is the best game you have ever played. It is worth every penny. So what are you waiting for? Go out and buy it!
