Summit The Twilight Saga: New Moon (Blu-ray)New Moon,the second in Stephenie Meyer's blockbuster teen-fiction saga adapted for film, is stronger than its predecessor, Twilight. Director Chris Weitz (TheGolden Compass), taking the helm from Catherine Hardwicke, brings a lighter, more assured touch to the sequel, which continues the star-crossed love story of mortal Bella (Kristen Stewart) and vampire Edward (Robert Pattinson). Incidentally, Edward is absent for most of the film; after an accident on Bella's birthday reminds Edward that her life is always at risk when he's around, he chooses to abandon her, sending her into a deep depression. The only person who helps her heal her broken heart is her friend Jacob (Taylor Lautner), a member of the Quileute tribe who, as he grows taller, beefier, and more aggressive (with less clothing), comesto realize he's not entirely human either. But even his love for Bella doesn't prevent her from throwing herself in the path of danger, because that's the only time she can see visions of Edward. Onesuch fateful misunderstanding sends Edward into the coven of the Volturi (a sort of vampire Mafia, if you will), where the most dangerous vampires hold both Edward and Bella's fate in their cold, dark hands.

Good AdaptationMar 12, 2010 Although I think that the books were very simplistic and filled with teenage drama I thought that they were entertaining enough to actually read the complete series. In "New Moon" the characters are already established and the book takes us into new territory and a three-way love triangle between Bella, Edward, and Jacob. We find out that Jacob was carrying a ressesive gene that was activated soon after the results of the first book ended. What happened was that Jacob actually is a wolf shape shifter who's sole purpose is to kill any and all vampires. Edward feels the need to "protect" Bella from himself and leaves her to live a supposedly normal "human" life. In the time after Jacob and Bella's friendship grows and their emotional attachment becomes deeper. Jacob falls for Bella and Bella begins to love Jacob. However, Bella's first love Edward is the one who she wants to be with. Jealousy, tension, and anger ensues between the 3 characters. But not before Bella having to run to Italy to save Edward from a grizzy fate of exposing Vampires to the moral world, hence, being killed by the Vampire World's "Royalty".
Overall, the movie itself did a decent job at translating the book to screen. However, there is no passion that the characters show and the intense scenes between the threesome end up being nothing more than melodramatic. Causing the characters to look like nothing more than cry babies and whiners instead of characters who are housing deep emotional scares and fears from life and love's journey.

The TwilightSaga - New MoonMar 12, 2010 The movie "New Moon" was adapted from Stephenie Meyer's second book in her TwilightSaga. Chris Weitz, director, having a far bigger budget to work with than Catherine Hardwicke, really gets on board with perfect timing. All the important details from the book come alive with such clarity, and because of Chris Weitz's knowledge of CGI (having directed "The Golden Compass), the shape-shifting werewolves are of a size and force to be reckoned with. Chris Weitz is spot-on with his casting of the wolf pack. The very talented and much "buffer" Taylor Lautner brings Jacob Black right off the pages of the book to the screen and one couldn't ask for a better casting of the Volturi. (Dakota Fanning is a perfect Jane and Michael Sheen as Aro - wow!). Filming on-location in Italy was important in keeping with the content and suspense in the book.
New Moon's soundtrack is good, but I still prefer Twilight's soundtrack - my opinion only.
If you have read and love all four books, you will enjoy seeing the characters make the leap from book to screen. If you haven't read the books, be prepared to be thoroughly entertained.
I give this movie five stars *****.

Catherine Hardwicke's past experience as a director, her intuitive casting of all the characters, but especially Kristen Stewart as Bella Swan and Robert Pattinson as Edward Cullen for the first Twilight movie, and her loyalty to Stephenie Meyer and the fans sets the stage and gets all the wheels in motion for the future movies and their directors in the series.

As good as it could be. . .Mar 12, 2010 I love Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse and Breaking Dawn probably more than any woman my age should. (Stephenie Meyer was truly inspired!) If I could, I would read and re-read these books unceasingly. However, I have a life and my amazing kids to keep up with. ---
As for this movie, it is not even half as good as the book, but it is probably as good as it could be given the circumstances. Yes, I miss all the nuances and important details revealed in type; and as most fans, I left the theater disapointed and wanting more. But, it wasn't a complete let down. The screen version did convey the story, and I did tear up when viewing it (that was a big criteria for me, because I cry my eyes out each time I read New Moon). The movie was a corny, muted version of the book but it still let viewers see Bella's heartache and disfunction when the Cullens leave and her mending and rebuilding due to Jacob and their love/friendship for eachother. I have seen it in the theater 3 times, and each time it gets better. I will definitely be buying it when it comes out, and plan on watching it with my husband as many times as I can. :o)

Really?Mar 11, 2010 This was not a good film. Some of the scenes were hilarious in how cheesy they were. "Oh you have a tiny scratch, well I should take off my shirt then...for the scratch." It was also really boring. The only reason it doesn't get one star is because the WOLVES ARE AWESOME! But aside from that its really not worth seeing let alone buying.

great Movie but this version GIVE IT A MISSMar 11, 2010 THIS MOVIE IS A MUST HAVE FOR ALL TWILIGHT FANS HOWEVER I JUST RECEIVED MY COPY AND I HAVE WATCHED IT THROUGH.
IF YOU ARE INTO THE BONUS FEATURES THIS VERSION IS ONE TO CONSIDER NOT BUYING
THWE FEATURES ARE VERY LIMITED INDEED IT HAS A 65 MINUTE FEATURETTE AND MUSIC VIDEOS BUT UNLIKE THE ENGLISH RELEASE WHICH HAS OVER 3 HOURS OF BONUS CONTENT I WOULD RECONSIDER.
THERE ARE NO DELETED SCENES, BECOMING JACOB, MEET THE WOLFPACK JUST TO NAME A FEW...
I WAS VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH MY PURCHASE AND I WOULD RECCOMEND A DIFFERENT VERSION THEN THE DVD 2 DISK SET.
I GIVE THIS 3 STARS BECAUSE I LOVE THE MOVIE ITS 5 STARS BUT BECAUSE OF THE CONTENT I CAN ONLY GIVE IT 3.
