Great Game - Slow load - menus are not as goodOct 05, 2005
By Paul Southwick
"Book/Game Lover"
As a returning fan of this game I have been pleased. I do not like the menus, I don't like the fact that they don't have the tutorial. I am not sure why the other review said you don't have control over the ball. You have more control than ever with the other stick now. You have to do it in your swing now which is more exciting. Putting is not as hard once you get use to it but it nice because the caddy doesn't give you everything. I like the game breaker better than the tiger eyes because you have to build up to it. I use to enjoy the sponsorship dollars in every event last year. However now you only make sponsorhip dollars on the tour events. I like the fact that you can transfer special modifies on clubs yet I haven't figured out how. The manual sucks and without a tuturial it really will piss off a first time player. One more nice move was that you can play real time calendar events if you miss them. You can go back and play an old day. I like how it locks out future dates but I now don't have to change the date on my machine if I want to play an old event.
If your a golf fan I buy it. Hasn't been any other now that lynx stopped with one.
One thing that might really make you mad is it takes forever to load. I haven't figured out how to adjust my skill levels unless I press it after an event.

Hole in oneMay 15, 2006
By Basement Artist This games is great. I am a new fan of sports games. I have been playing this with other guys at work (I have a great job) and we have been rocking the house taking turns and rooting each other on. Even the girls get into watching.
You can create cool dudes or hot chics with funny voices. The animation is basic with the characters- but the golfing is great and challenging - but not incredibly hard to learn.
Putting takes a little time to perfect but you wouldn't want a game that is going to make everything easy, would you? Yeah, there are some hard parts- get over it.

What is all the complaining about?Nov 10, 2005
By Slam I've never written a game review before, but the one and two star assessments have prompted me to add my two cent (or should I say $49.99). Here are my comments in no particular order.
1) 2006 graphics looks identical to 2005. This seems reasonable since it written for the same hardware (xbox).
2) The green grid is a welcomed addition. In 2005, there was no green grid for putting. I had to change to chipping to get the grid. I hated the caddy aid and the ideal line aid. The new green grid, which isn't so new since it was in the 2004 version), certainly makes putting more realistic. It forces you to get feel for the put.
3) The two stick putter is much more interesting and challenging. In previous versions, all you had to do is move the putter marker to get perfect distance - moving the left stick at 100% power allowed for any distance. Now, with two stick putting, the player must feel the putting distance my adjusting the power in the shot. I've certainly blown a few puts by not feeling it quite right.
4) You have all the control of the ball and more. The ability to put spin on the ball after the shout is still there. This a critical aspect of the game since it keeps the player involved throughout the entire ball flight. Other game (Links) is a bit boring - once you've hit the ball, there nothing to do. Remember, this is an arcade game.
5) I see no problems with loading time - same as 2005.
6) Menus are different, not better or worse. One does get used to change.
7) Drives do go straight, but the challenge is keeping that draw or fade from becoming a hook or slice.
8) I like the fact that a player can't play every tournament in the rookie season. You must earn the right.
9) Other players can shoot in the 50's in PGA mode.
Anyway, this list could go one, but I've got other stuff to do. I agree with 90% of the changes from 2005 to 2006. If you want better graphics, get XBOX 360.
What is all the complaining about?

HORRIBLE!!! Stick with 2005Oct 12, 2005
By B. Detwiller OK, I don't know who's paying the two guys below, but this game rots! It looks just like 2005, loads more slowly (believe it or not), the menus are really cumbersome, AND you have much less ball control. This is a game, not a golf simulator for pros to play when it's snowing out. This is not supposed to be like a flight simulator for pilots who need to log their hours. Its a game. It should be fun. It isn't. Add to all of these disappointments the fact that you can't earn money/skill points for your own profile when playing other golfers (a near necessity, as they start you out with so little skill a 12 yo kid could toast you). AND you earn them incredibly slowly. I'll still play it, but when I'm having the guys over for some Tiger, it's still gonna be 2005, we've all agreed. Save your money, they'll fix it next year and we can all buy a good game then.

Big disappointment on Tiger Woods PGA 06Oct 04, 2005
By gamer acg

Well I cannot speak for everyone but here is the bottom line after I have played the game.
After playing 05 I thought 06 would have a lot more to offer but wow, how I was wrong. You have almost no control over the ball off the tea and about the same all the way down the fairway. You can not change your position before driving the ball and trying to build power at the same time is impossible, most of the guess work on the green is now gone it seems and the new voice overs " well they seem annoying ". They made room for players voices and took away from game play I my self rather have the game play. Any hoot, 05 is a much better game all around, 06 does have some better graphics but creating a player is just not the same.
I feel 06 would have been better if they would have left the game setup like 05 and just added in some of the new 06 features.
If you want to have control on the ball and have more fun all around play 05
